Job Description
UTA seeks a Senior Data Engineer to architect and elevate the modern data platforms that fuel business intelligence, advanced analytics, and real-time decision-making across the organization. In this highly visible, hands-on role, you'll tackle complex data challenges, design and scale robust pipelines, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to transform raw data into powerful, actionable insights that drive the business forward.
The salary range for this role is $185,000 to $200,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do
Data Architecture & Engineering Leadership
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing data warehouse and analytics solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks) that consolidate data from diverse business domains and sources into a single, trusted environment
• Build, optimize, and support ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration frameworks to pull data from multiple systems and data types into unified models that power reporting, analytics, and machine learning workflows
• Contribute to the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure, ensuring reliable deployments and monitoring.
• Support batch and near-real-time data processing patterns as the data ecosystem evolves.
Collaboration & Strategy
• Partner with stakeholders across engineering, product, analytics, and machine learning to translate business requirements into well-designed data solutions.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives and contribute technical expertise to data platform strategy and roadmap discussions.
• Work closely with analytics and BI teams to ensure data is reliable, well-modeled, and easy to consume.
Quality, Reliability & Operations
• Ensure data quality, observability, and reliability across pipelines and platforms.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation for data-related issues.
• Apply best practices for performance tuning, cost optimization, and scalability in cloud environments.
Mentorship & Best Practices
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team standards around clean code, documentations, and data engineering best practices
• Promote a culture of operational excellence, testing, and continuous improvement
What You Will Need
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of engineering experience, with 3–5+ years focused on data engineering, analytics platforms, or big data systems.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python; experience with Spark or distributed data processing is a plus.
• Strong experience with modern data warehouses and data lake platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks, Delta Lake).
• Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt, Apache Airflow, or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, partitioning strategies, and performance optimization.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and an understanding of security and compliance best practices.
• Familiarity with BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
