Job Description

We're working on a Splinter Cell remake, assembling a team with passion, drive and respect for the trifocal goggles. This is an opportunity to be part of a treasured franchise, rebuilt on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine to deliver next-generation visuals and modernized stealth gameplay, while preserving what's at the heart of the Splinter Cell experience.
On being a Graphic Designer (Branding Team) at Ubisoft Toronto
Working directly with our Branding team lead, and Art Director, the successful candidate is a strong visual communicator who wants to be part of the dynamic and innovative environment at Ubisoft Toronto.

You have a keen eye for detail, and a flexibility for adapting to technical limitations. You enjoy turning challenges into creative opportunities, and relish in telling stories through elements of design. You understand that form follows function and design should serve a purpose rather than a fancy. You are good with communication and are comfortable working independently as well as within a team. As a graphic designer, you will conceptualize, pitch, and produce assets based on provided art direction and technical guidelines. You will be provided basic training to better understand 3d game production pipelines. You enjoy being thoughtful and thorough with your designs, understanding, researching and being meticulous with any legal, or cultural implications they may have.

Type of position: Full-time, Permanent

Responsibilities:
• Design various branding assets, which adhere to given art direction and branding guidelines.
• Ability to match a variety of art styles as needed by production (Style chameleon preferred over unique personal style).
• Keep consistent and coherent art style throughout related assets.
• Assets will include:
• Logos for fake companies for in-game use
• Fake advertisement posters/stationery for in-game use
• Create a variety of visual fonts for in-game use (letterforms in photoshop or illustrator only, kerning/spacing not required)
• Graffiti art in various styles is a plus
• Assist in developing established branding guidelines is a plus
• Drawing ability is a plus

Qualifications

What it takes to make it
• 5+ years' experience in video game art production or other relevant experience
• Participation in at least 2 – 3 complete game productions or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of visual story telling
• Familiarity with both Lighting an VFX pipelines
• Experience in previsualization for Cinematics
• Ability to Assemble, Lead, and work within teams
• Effective organizational skills (time management, planning, communication)
• Exhibit resourcefulness, innovation, and initiative in their role
• Database knowledge an asset (JIRA, Perforce, etc.)
• Knowledge of the technical constraints of real time, 3D engines and level editors
• Bilingualism would be a benefit
• Knowledge of the tools used by team members
• Knowledge of the other game production working units an asset
• Knowledge of the MS Office suite an asset.
