THE JOB

WarnerMedia seeks an Associate Editor for the Effects-Creative Serv-TStudios department. Turner Sports is one of our biggest partners and they've added a new property to their portfolio, and it's a big one – the NHL. WM Studios is growing right along with Turner Sports as we prepare to support this essential new partnership. We are seeking an Associate Editor who not only has experience with the fundamentals of editing, we need an artist who knows the sport – who lives and breathes hockey + exhibits the versatility to help out wherever the team needs it. This role will demand an artist who understands the storylines, the characters, and the action that is unique to the NHL – it is truly a sport like no other.

An Associate Editor is a position at WarnerMedia Studios geared towards building upon the foundations of a career in editing. This position is designed for craftspeople who have a keen eye and a passion for storytelling, content creation, post-production, and a driving desire to succeed in the media industry.

The Associate Editor position is a three-year program where selected candidates grow as editors through development of skilled editing techniques, relationship building with network partners, mentoring junior staff, and supporting senior groups of editors. The Associate Editor needs to have previous experience with editing, such as preparing media for edit sessions, pulling selects, creating clip reels, and preparing projects for delivery and archive. The core focus of this job is to strengthen creative and technical skills, including asset and project management, while gaining essential experience to further develop understanding of network branding and workflows.

THE DAILY
• Organizing, transcoding, and transferring media for session materials (e.g. films and episodes to and from library, shoot footage, etc.)
• Creating and preparing projects (gathering, organizing, and importing media; creating skeleton sequences for spots)
• Pulling selects and creating clip reels
• Cutting season premiere campaigns, overflow creative work, bumps, cutdowns, etc.
• Creating temp graphics for spots (lower thirds, end pages, etc.)
• Prepping projects for color and audio
• Versioning spots with different graphics and audio mixes
• Prepping projects for delivery and archive
• Integrating the use of scopes, audio mixers, and automated processes to QC media before it is delivered for air and digital
• Understanding and executing intricate deliverables for air and digital
• Work autonomously when needed – this is part of why knowing the sport is a must!
• Work effectively in a fully remote (for now) environment collaborating closely with one or more NHL-focused producers/editors
• Belong to and contribute to a team of NHL-focused colleagues, as well as other properties such as the NBA, MLB, NCAA and Bleacher Report, to name a few.

THE ESSENTIALS
• Very skilled in Adobe Premiere and After Effects
• Experienced with asset and project management software – namely Strawberry and IPV
• Knowledge of NHL history, fans, players, coaches, and gameplay
• Knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Thorough understanding of post-production processes and database management
• Ability to prep editing material for sessions
• Must be able to perform under very tight deadlines
• Must be self-motivated, intuitive, and take initiative
• Solid customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong communicator, high attention to detail, meticulous organizational skills, excellent time management skills
• Previous post-production television experience preferred
