Vice President, Publicity (CW Network)

The Job

The CW Network, LLC is searching for a Vice President for the Publicity department reporting to the Executive VP of Publicity & Talent Relations. This role is responsible for developing publicity strategy, ideas, and all materials for primetime series' publicity campaigns, including series launches and ongoing publicity efforts. This role is currently operating remotely, but the plan is to move to a hybrid (office/remote) model beginning in January 2022.

The Daily
• Develops overall publicity strategy, launch plans, and status reports for primetime series.
• Pitches story ideas/news angles, coordinates interviews, talk show appearances, magazine photoshoots, etc. for talent and executive producers for local and national press (print and electronic) for all assigned shows.
• Writes press materials, including releases, show descriptions, biographies, episodic synopses as well as media briefings, key talking points, and talking scripts for cast and executive producers.
• Creates and coordinates asset libraries of materials needed to successfully execute publicity strategies, including gallery and episodic photography and video clips.
• Participates in the planning and execution of all department events including the upfront, TCAs, Comic-Con, South By Southwest, and other panels and parties
• Participates in brainstorming sessions with the department to come up with new ideas, stunts, and events for all series.
• Serves as a liaison between a program's cast/crew, the press, and the public.

The Essentials
• BA degree in related field required.
• Must have a television or publicity background.
• 7+ years of progressive experience working in various capacities within a Publicity department.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to write copy, press releases, show descriptions, bios, synopses, talking points, etc. that attracts interest from the press and audiences.
• Must have strong relationships with media, entertainment, and TV trade press to ensure most effective exposure and publicity for The CW Network.
• Must be an imaginative and strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute publicity strategies, ideas, and events.
• Must be knowledgeable and proficient with major social media platforms.
• Must be able to coordinate people and events for publicizing programs and staging promotions.
• Must be able to select video clips, stills, and other materials for publicity that are interesting and fulfill the media's needs and requirements.
• Must be able to travel, work flexible hours, including overtime, and attend various activities before, during, and after business hours.
• High-level collaboration skills with all levels of the team and organization; the ability to manage relationships with talent and producers is essential for success.
• Exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to exhibit discretion and maintain confidentiality is essential.
• Seamlessly be able to successfully and efficiently operate under time constraints and in scenarios when problem-solving is required.
• Must have television or publicity background. (Minimum 7 years experience)
• Must have writing experience.
