About the Role & Team

Disney Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and Platform Distribution (PD) are business units within Disney Entertainment that manage the company's direct-to-consumer streaming brands (Disney+, Hulu, Hulu + Live TV and the Disney Bundle), as well as all third-party media sales efforts for distribution, affiliate-related business operations for all of the company's DTC services and linear media networks, and content sales agreements for Disney Entertainment and ESPN.

The Disney Platform Distribution (PD) and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Communications team is seeking a Manager, Communications to join our team and serve as a key collaborator to drive brand and corporate communications for the company's DTC streaming brands and all Platform Distribution efforts.

We are seeking someone who can thoughtfully balance multiple programs from strategic planning through tactical execution across businesses and teams, has strong media relations skills and can artfully drive strategic narratives for the business, with or without an announcement to lean on. You will be responsible for leading a broad range of activities and day-to-day operations across both businesses including external communications efforts for key projects, brand marketing and third-party media sales efforts and ongoing tentpole campaigns. Reporting into the Director of PD Communications, you will also work alongside and support senior leadership, both internally and externally, to ensure brand messaging consistency and impact. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate closely with the DTC and PD organizations, internal communications, marketing, publicity and other groups for broader storytelling about major tentpole events, campaigns or company efforts.
• Assist and advise on executive communication efforts including nominations for relevant panels, lists and roundup stories.
• Develop and maintain a deep network of press relationships across corporate, business, trade, consumer and entertainment press outlets.
• Own platform distribution, content sales, and promotional wholesale partnerships announcements, working collaboratively with third-party partners and internal customers including senior executives.
• Partner with team to implement a robust external communications strategy for the company's direct-to-consumer streaming brands.
• Prepare key messaging and talking points, verify deal points/content availability dates, and contribute to crisis comms efforts as needed.
• Collaborate and partner with distribution and affiliate marketing, regional sales and marketing teams, content management and sales, creative marketing, and digital/social teams in addition to station groups and individual broadcast stations.
• Support internal communications outreach and logistics, including employee messaging, forums, team meetings and key initiatives.
• Complete both domestic and international publicity requests for talent and producers on behalf of streaming and television programming licensed to various third-parties including interviews and set visits.
• Run talent participation at festivals, client upfronts and in-person publicity tours.
• Coordinate the department's media monitoring efforts and clip reports including weekend box office coverage and analyses.

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in public relations, publicity, or external communications.
• Experience crafting PR campaigns, including corporative narratives and messaging.
• Deep knowledge of the earned media landscape, strong media/press relations experience and existing relationships, and high comfort level working with media.
• Extensive experience writing and editing press releases, fact sheets, biographies, executive talking points and more.
• Present and communicate communications strategies optimally in meetings.
• Ability to drive innovative ways to deliver communications goals in more creative, efficient, and effective ways by challenging current processes and recommending innovative approaches.
• Combination of strategic and creative problem solver and hands-on tactician.

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity and knowledge of Disney's streaming brands and the company's streaming, television, theatrical and third-party licensed content. An overall appreciation for the Disney brand is a plus!
• Experience in the entertainment industry is ideal.

Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably with a major in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or related field.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $112,100.00 - $150,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
