With 64 television stations nationwide, TEGNA is the largest independent television station group of major network affiliates in the top 25 markets (NBC, CBS, ABC), reaching approximately one-third of all US television households. Our stations are leading brands in their local markets, providing highly relevant news, entertainment, and public service content to their audiences.
We are looking for detail-oriented Payroll Processors for our payroll department. This position will support TEGNA business units with Kronos timekeeping, payroll processing and other Payroll items as need. The Payroll Processor will also provide quality customer service to Employees, HR, and assigned location contacts.
This position will be part of the TEGNA corporate team with company-wide responsibility but will be physically located at our NBC Affiliate in Indianapolis, WTHR.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process payroll for assigned locations.
• Maintain accurate records of pay cycle reviews/audits. Prepare payroll reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
• Review processing of payroll changes (New Hires, Terminations, Employee Transfers and Pay increases.)
• Calculate and process retroactive pay adjustments.
• Ensure all payroll processes for assigned locations are documented and up to date with any enhancements and improvements.
• Assist employees and managers with timekeeping including hours worked, time off balances and approval of timecards.
• Assist HR Business partners with requests that involve payroll data.
• Run reports as requested by finance directors, managers, or HR.
• Respond timely and professionally to employee inquiries.
• Establish and maintain good professional relationships with other payroll processors, Finance, HR, and IT teams that partner with payroll.
Job Requirements:
Requirements:
• High school degree/GED is required.
• 2-3 years of payroll experience. Shared service experience preferred.
• Desire, ability and curiosity to investigate and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and technology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with Ultipro and Kronos is preferred but not required.
• Processing Union payroll desired.
• Proven attention to detail, good organizational and prioritizing skills and ability to multi-task and work in an expanding and changing environment.
• Ability to be self-motivated and proactive.
• Collaborative approach and experience working well with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written); strong interpersonal skills.
