Job Description
At KING 5 we Stand for Truth. We are looking for a Morning Reporter who can discover and add context to the biggest stories of the day. You'll join an award-winning team of journalists to tell stories of the Pacific Northwest through the voices of our diverse community.

This person must be able to jump from politics and transit stories to issues about the local economy and environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of smart and engaging live shots. We want a person who is innovative and courageous when it comes to creating innovative storytelling content on digital and TV.

Covering breaking news is part of the job, but we want a reporter who can look beyond the headlines to pitch enterprise stories on a broad range of relevant news topics that serve our audience.

Responsibilities:
• Investigate leads and tips, conduct interviews, research stories, write and edit news stories.
• Voice and front stories for all platforms.
• Create web content, meet publication and broadcast deadlines, and report on newsworthy events.
• Collaborate with KING's award-winning photojournalists on storytelling projects for digital and broadcast.
• Maintain story calendar and pitch impactful, newscast-leading stories.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• At least three years' experience as a reporter/MSJ in a large broadcast market or at least five years' experience in a mid- or small market.
• Must research, write, and front creative stories on tight deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• Ability to work mornings, nights, and weekends

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong writing skills, both for digital and broadcast platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
• Active presence on social media.
• Fluency in a second language is a plus.

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.

Budgeted Compensation Range: $72,000 - $80,000
