If so, 12NewsNow and Tegna is the place for you! We're looking for a talented writer who is comfortable working with technology and social media to be our next digital content producer.

12NewsNow (KBMT/K-JAC), an NBC & ABC affiliate in Beaumont, Texas, is a great place to start with a strong company that owns television stations in 51 markets around the US We're about an hour and a half due east of Houston in a market teaming with lots of breaking news. We cover big market news in a small market.
Our digital producers help distribute our content digitally over our website, app, OTT and on social media reaching our readers and viewers where they are.

You'll work with us to implement our best practices for each of our digital platforms and use social listening to find and flesh out local stories. You'll also make data-informed decisions about what to share to our readers. You'll regularly edit on-air scripts to transform them into print style articles for our digital platforms. Good spelling and grammar skills along with the ability to adhere to AP Style when writing is a must. Sometimes you may be called upon to help copy edit other's work for our various digital platforms.
Our successful candidate has strong news judgement and is a strong writer who is comfortable writing in AP style. Qualified candidates will have experience publishing their well-written content online using a content management system and be familiar with posting that content across social media. You should also have an insatiable appetite for keeping up with the latest news as well as the ever-evolving news consumption habits of our readers, trending stories and emerging technology.

Responsibilities: Here's some more of what you'll be expected to work on…
• Clip and edit video for the website
• Set up live video streams
• Represent the digital team in newsroom editorial meetings
• Help with special projects

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related course of study.
• Some newsroom experience professionally or possibly via an internship or student publication.
• Some experience editing video and photos is required along with some knowledge of digital metrics.
• Some familiarity with content management systems and the ability to learn our CMS.
• A basic understanding of HTML.
• Some understanding of digital and social metrics.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Experience with Google Analytics, CrowdTangle and/or Taboola Newsroom is a big plus.
