Responsibilities
Telemundo 48 (KSTS) in San Jose, CA, is currently seeking Reporter/VJ. The successful candidate will research, shoot, write and edit compelling news stories.

Responsibilities:
• Gather news information and prepare for presentation on air, online and for mobile
• Perform on-air reporting responsibilities for designated Telemundo 48 newscast or program across KSTS's multiple platforms
• Gather, report, shoot, edit, write, prepare and/or assemble, and present story content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner
• Collaborate with news producers, managers and photographers to conceptualize, write, shoot, edit, and produce Telemundo 48 news specials and packages based on either breaking or pre-planned stories
• Generate story ideas, research and set up the content and interviews
• Communicate with news producers, assignment editors and managers regarding story development, progress in the field and/or breaking news stories
• Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local stories
• Build relationships within the community for the purpose of developing connections to story leads
• Participate in station-sponsored events and all assigned special promotions projects
• Perform fill-in anchor and other temporary assignments, as needed

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as television reporter in a top 20 market
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Proven track record of strong writing, storytelling and live reporting skills
• Bilingual: Spanish and English; both written and verbal

Eligibility Requirements
• Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice
• Must be willing to work in San Jose, CA
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a valid driver's license

Desired Characteristics
• Minimum 5 years of experience as television reporter in top 10 market
• Solid news judgment, strong writing and research skills
• Experience in a variety of on-air reporting functions including anchoring, investigations, franchises, etc.
• Very strong speech skills with the ability to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, particularly breaking news, in Spanish and English
• Strong understanding and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics, including a current knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment
• Effective self-starter with the proven ability to generate and produce news stories
• Proficiency delivering enterprising stories
• Experience actively engaging in editorial processes and meetings
• Knowledge of non-linear editing and shooting workflow
• Understanding of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
• Understanding of emerging news production techniques and technology, with a pioneering spirit with desire to learn emerging technologies and invent the future
• Good collaborative and interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels, both in Spanish and English
