Telemundo 44 / WZDC is Telemundo's local television station serving more than 900,000 Hispanic viewers in the Washington DC area. Telemundo 44 delivers its audiences 10 hours of live, locally produced news each week across all platforms. The station's newscasts feature local breaking news, real-time weather forecasts, consumer reports and sports information. The station also airs world-class programming produced by Telemundo Network. Telemundo 44 is co-located with WRC-TV in NBC4 Washington's news facility. Both Telemundo 44 and NBC4 / WRC-TV are home to the largest bilingual newsroom in Washington DC

Job Description

Job Duties
• Enterprise news stories
• Gather information
• Shoot, write and edit newsworthy events including breaking/spot news, general news, sports and feature stories relevant to the Washington, DC community
• Create web content that complements the station website
• Report, write and produce packages content for multiple newscasts each day and for other platforms as assigned
• Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local news
• Active community involvement
• Work closely with Producers, News Managers and Assignment Editors, as well as Reporters and Anchors to gather, produce, write and desktop edit
• Research and produce news segments
• Field produce, conduct interviews and shoot stories
• Present stories live on air partnering with photographers and as a single person MMJ
• Develop and pitch story ideas

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Multimedia Journalist
• Minimum 2 years of experience in newsgathering, reporting and/or production
• Minimum 2 years of experience writing, producing and desktop editing
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Communications or related majors and/or equivalent experience
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal
• Must be willing to work in Washington, DC
• Be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
• Excellent news judgment
• Excellent writing skills
• Ability to investigate information to establish facts and determine truth
• Prior experience with Dalet
• Experience working with digital camera
• Working knowledge of non-linear editing
• Experience utilizing social media as a news gathering/reporting tool
• Critical thinking skills, able to understand and communicate complex issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and act as a team player
• Ability to make priority decisions under deadline
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Team player who can also work independently and is a self-starter

Additional Requirements
• Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
