Job Description

Responsibilities
Telemundo Connecticut is currently looking for an individual with a comprehensive understanding of television news production, with an outstanding writing and verbal communications skills. Individual must also have knowledge of the news editing systems, and camera operation.
• This individual will be responsible for shooting, writing and editing daily stories, as well as gather material to contribute building the rundown.
• Individual will also be responsible to assist in the production of the live broadcast.
• Responsibilities also include keeping up to date on current events and news in New England.
• Video Journalist will be expected to participate in community events and station activities from time to time as master of ceremonies and/or Host as requested by the station.
• Assist producer in establishing sources, finding and executing enterprise news investigations, building and maintaining strong list of story ideas

Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Reporter and news writing
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required both written and verbal.
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 2 years' experience in newsgathering and/or production
Minimum 2 years' experience writing, producing and desktop editing
Bachelor's degree
Ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly in various types of on air situations

Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift
Must Be willing to work in Providence, RI
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.

Desired Characteristics

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications.
Experience as a General Assignment Reporter
Excellent writing skills as well as very strong speech skills.
Strong live reporting skills are necessary.
Ability to write, edit and produce under heavy deadline pressure without compromising accuracy or credibility.
Possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to enterprise, research and plan stories.
Demonstrated experience generating and producing news stories.
Prior experience delivering taped and live reports.
Can act decisively under stress and tight deadlines.
Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends) and to return to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage.
Experience editing content on a desktop editing system.
Strong desire to deliver news as it develops on all current and future platforms.
A sense of urgency and desire to learn emerging technologies.
