ABC10-TV, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a talented and innovative Special Projects Visual Journalist and Storyteller to join our award-winning ABC10 Originals team. We are seeking a skilled photographer/editor and someone who can set the bar by example in shooting and editing promotable and unique content for television, website, and our streaming platform, ABC10+. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Photojournalist passionate about crafting deeper-level enterprise stories, including investigations and news specials. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Special Projects.
Responsibilities:
• Work full-time as a special projects photojournalist, contributing to both investigative and non-investigative projects
• Shoot and edit impactful, long-form stories, including half-hour and hour-long specials
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to scout locations and enhance storytelling through visual production
• Utilize advanced video equipment, including mirrorless and Sony FS series cameras
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics, drone photography, and new forms of media (viewer pictures, virtual interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
• Perform post-production work, including color grading and advanced lighting techniques
• Edit content using Adobe Premiere and After Effects, producing multiple versions optimized for streaming and various platforms
• Occasionally support breaking news coverage as needed
• Operate news-gathering vehicles to and from various locations
• Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
• At least 5 years of news-gathering experience preferred
• College degree preferred
• Expertise in Adobe Premiere with familiarity in Adobe After Effects
• Proficiency in photography, videography, and graphic design tools
• Knowledge of S-log and other log picture profiles
• Experience with live news gathering tools like TVU, Dejero
• Drone license, preferred
• Proven ability to craft engaging, narrative-driven stories with advanced storytelling techniques
• Flexible schedule, with reliability and dependability essential
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under time-pressure deadlines
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills with a passion for innovative storytelling
• Familiarity with advanced lighting setups for broadcast-quality production
• Enthusiasm for exploring new techniques and tools to enhance visual storytelling

Pay Range
$28.84 - $31.25 USD
