KWES-TV is seeking a dedicated and passionate Sports Anchor with strong Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) skills to join our dynamic news team in Midland/Odessa, Texas. As the Sports Anchor/MSJ, you will be responsible for delivering compelling and engaging sports coverage to our audience across various platforms.
Responsibilities:
1. Serve as the primary on-air personality for sports news coverage, including anchoring sports segments during newscasts.
2. Research, write, and produce sports stories, features, and packages for on-air and digital platforms.
3. Conduct interviews with athletes, coaches, and sports experts to provide insightful and informative content.
4. Attend sporting events, press conferences, and community events to report on local sports news and highlights.
5. Utilize social media and other digital tools to engage with viewers and promote sports coverage.
6. Collaborate with the news team to develop innovative storytelling techniques and creative approaches to sports reporting.
7. Work closely with producers, photographers, and editors to ensure high-quality production of sports content and live broadcasts.
8. Stay up-to-date on sports news, trends, and developments within the local community and beyond.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in sports reporting and anchoring, preferably in a broadcast news environment.
- Strong on-camera presence and excellent storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in video editing software and multimedia production tools.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing news situations.
- Knowledge of AP style, journalistic ethics, and media law.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
