Job Description

ABC24/CW30, the TEGNA station in Memphis, Tennessee is looking for a talented and dynamic experienced multi-skilled journalist and weekend anchor. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior on-camera communication skills as well as the ability to engage in spontaneous conversation with other members of the on-air team. Weekday responsibilities include acting as a multi-skilled journalist to gather, shoot, write and edit stories as well as filling as an anchor on other newscasts as needed.

Responsibilities:
• Anchor weekend newscasts and other live/taped programming, as needed.
• Report from the field on deadline.
• Ability to identify, write and produce stories within a specific timeframe.
• Research for facts, credibility, and balance.
• Maintain and develop sources who will help bring our reporting to the next level.
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit on air and online content within deadlines.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
• Serve as leading editorial voice for weekend team by managing shoots for photojournalists, assisting with multi-skilled journalist assignments, and making editorial calls about content both on digital and broadcast.
• Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• College degree in journalism or related field
• Minimum 3 years' reporting experience, preferred
• Minimum 2 years' anchoring experience, preferred
• Must possess solid news judgment, display strong creativity, and have ethical decision-making skills.
• Ability as an engaging communicator on the anchor desk and live in the field.
• Track record as a leader in your newsroom.
• Strong writing skills, production skills and tease writing abilities.
• ENPS and Edius experience, preferred.
• Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
• Must be able to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events.
• Proven social and digital content creation ability.
• Knowledge of Memphis/Mid-South area and/or reason to relocate here will make your application stand out. Please mention in cover letter.
