Meteorologist

Job Description

KING 5, the first television station in the Pacific Northwest with a legacy of serving the community, has an immediate opening for a Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather Team. This position will be responsible for every aspect of meteorology, including forecasting, preparing graphics, posting digital forecasts and reporting in the field. This position is full time, hourly, and union represented.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with a team of meteorologists, as well as other anchors and producers
• Lead innovation in graphics, technologies and platforms for weather delivery
• Prepare and present weather forecasts for newscasts
• Interact with the audience on multiple platforms, especially during severe weather
• Develop story sources to bring unique and community-based pitches to editorial discussions
• Deliver First Alert weather information in a captivating and authentic manner

Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years on-air experience
• Ability to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends. This specific shift is weekend mornings/ weekdays.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology or climate science preferred
• AMS seal preferred

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.

Compensation Range: $95,000 - $120,000
