Job Description
KTVB is looking for an Assignment Manager to join our award-winning team in beautiful Boise, Idaho. The Assignment Manager is the heart of the newsroom and will collaborate with the leadership team in daily news-gathering efforts. The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist in the field and the newsroom with solid news judgment and strong communication skills. This role is responsible for curating the best local stories and coordinating with our newsroom staff. They will have a pulse on what news crews and producers need to know at any time during their shift - including breaking news, what's trending on our website, and the topics locals can't stop talking about on social media or in the grocery store. You'll be thinking equally about our content on TV and digital platforms while ensuring no valuable reader tip (or point of view) falls through the cracks. This is a role for someone who thrives in high-energy positions and has a keen ability to balance multiple tasks in stressful situations. This position also assists with producing, streaming, and publishing digital content. The payoff? Responsibilities:
• Organize and run morning and afternoon news editorial meetings
• Maintain daily assignment lists for crews and planning calendar with events, news conferences, court cases, etc.
• Monitor newsroom email, text messages, and manage the voicemail inbox
• Review and organize news releases
• Identify for the leadership team newsworthy events/items ahead of time so resources can be planned and assigned to those stories
• Alert newsroom stakeholders to breaking news 
• Adjust crew assignments as necessary to cover developing/breaking news
• Continually keep crews informed of story developments and relay information to newsroom personnel
• Maintain and develop the content team's contact list ensuring diversity in sources
• Assist crews with court requests and access
• Monitor regional and national digital TEGNA content, while curating select content for our audiences
• Social listening and moderation
• Scour various digital sources for story ideas 
• Vet and research story ideas for coverage possibilities, set up interview times and locations as needed
• Route and record video feeds
• Respond to video request and send approved videos to requesting sources
• Maintain newsroom monitors to keep information on them visible and useful for crews
• Post breaking digital news, sending push alerts and assigning follow-up as needed
• Represent KTVB and TEGNA professionally in all interactions

Job Requirements:
• BA/BS in journalism, communication or related field preferred
• At least 2 years of professional newsroom experience preferred
• Understanding the tenants of professional journalism
• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experienced in making strong journalistic and ethical decisions in fast-paced environment
• Punctual, consistent, efficient, curious, fair
• Considerate to all story topics and angles
• Work well with a broad range of personalities and opinions
• Excel at multitasking under pressure
• The ability to be a technical troubleshooting ''MacGyver'' is a plus
