Seasonal Associate Project Manager, Future Models
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Future Models Associate Project Manager provides logistical and administrative support to the Future Models team. Future Models is a new, cross-departmental program aimed at addressing systemic challenges in the independent film ecosystem. The program promotes a more equitable future by identifying, supporting, and developing practical solutions in areas such as financing, marketing, and distribution.
Working closely under the Director, Catalyst & Industry, and closely with the Assistant Director, Industry Relations and the Director Producing & Artist Support, FFP this role will execute a Future Models convening during the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, while contributing to the research, development, and dissemination of additional projects as defined by the Future Models team.
This temporary position works from Wednesday, October 1, 2025 through Friday, March 27, 2026. This role will work a part-time schedule (30 hours per week) until Monday, January 5, 2026 when hours will increase to a full time schedule (40 hours per week) until Sunday, February 1, 2026. This position will then resume part-work from Monday, February 2, 2026 through the end of employment. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs may be required at key points. The majority of this position�s work can be conducted remotely out of any of our operating states, until the department comes together in Park City, UT in January to support the in-person elements of the Festival.
Top priorities include but are not limited to�
• Serving as the lead for Future Models in-person and/or digital events, including the Future Models event at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
• Leading the operational planning, from run- of-show development through live logistical support, for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival Future Models event.
• Creating departmental program timelines and managing deadlines across events (including the Sundance Film Festival event).
• Managing the invitation process for in-person and digital Future Models programs, including: creating the invitation with marketing oversight, tracking RSVPs, handling attendee communications, collecting and filing supplementary materials as applicable (headshots, bios, agreements, etc.).
• Leading the creation of program materials such as public-facing decks, one-sheets, and other materials, and managing relevant assets (i.e. bios, headshots, program descriptions).
• Supporting material review, organization, and routing process among internal Institute colleagues and external collaborators.
• Participating in weekly Future Models team meetings, overseeing the agenda and tracking tasks as applicable.
• Supporting tech projects, data management and tracking system development and maintenance for the Future Models team.
• Helping track and build resources for Future Models work as needed, such as innovation-related resources, articles and reports etc.
• Supporting mass communications to different constituencies in the Sundance Institute community, including drafting and routing external-facing emails, collecting email send lists, and helping to manage the Future Models communications calendar.
• Collaborating with Artist Program Group, Film Festival, Advancement, Operations, Collab, Tech, Events, and Digital teams as needed.
• Assisting with administrative support, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
You have the following direct or transferable qualifications and skills:
• 3 years of experience in the independent film industry.
• Strong understanding of the independent film ecosystem, including how films are financed, sold and distributed and the key industry (companies and executives) involved.
• Passion for Sundance Institute's mission and the independent film ecosystem.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent discretion and ability to maintain confidential information.
• Fluency in Google Applications.
• Experience working with databases preferred (e.g., Netsuite, Airtable).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
