Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director, Individual Giving is a major gifts fundraiser on the Advancement team. Additionally, they play a pivotal management role on the team, overseeing the Institute's membership and major giving programs. This position has three direct reports.

Working closely under the direction of the Director of Development and Co-Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to attracting, retaining and engaging mission and values aligned donors to support our work through financial contributions and otherwise.

Sundance Institute has offices in Park City, and Los Angeles, and New York City and preference will be given to candidates based in the greater Park City and Los Angeles area to work onsite in a hybrid capacity. Extended hours including evenings and weekends will be required at key points throughout the year. Occasional travel to Institute offices and events will also be required.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…
• Managing a portfolio of over 100+ current and prospective major donors, with a focus on donors with a capacity to make an annual impact at Sundance of $100k+.
• Meeting with donors and prospects to solicit, cultivate, steward, and ascertain their capacity to support the Institute, focusing on soliciting contributions from new donors and increasing contributions from current donors.
• Creating and implementing strategies for donor and prospect stewardship and solicitations tied specifically to donor interest.
• Devising meaningful touchpoints for donors and prospects to engage with Institute staff, as well as preparing an engagement strategy in advance.
• Acting as a host to top-level donors and prospects at the annual Sundance Film Festival and artist lab programs, as needed.
• Overseeing the strategy for the Sundance Circle patron programs ($5,000-$100,000) and the Sundance Institute membership program ($65-$2,500), with day-to-day management of this program handled by the Manager, Annual Giving and supported by the Coordinator, Annual Giving.
• Managing a year-round team, including hiring and training employees, delegating appropriate and meaningful work while providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure they understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.
• Partnering with the Director of Development and Co-Director, Advancement on overall team strategy, including donor event strategy, prospect management, and team efficacy.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• At least 7 years of direct fundraising experience, preferably within an arts nonprofit organization.
• Strong leadership skills, including experience managing others and working with volunteer committees, including board members.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to build strong relationships with internal and external constituents.
• Strong ability to inspire action in others.
• Ability to devise efficient workflows and simplify complex processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and tracking information.
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management database (CRM).
