About the Company

Story Pirates is an educational media company with over 16 years of experience producing award-winning media content, live-theater, and education programs for kids. SPTV is an award-winning educational television show airing on several PBS affiliate stations across the country and produced by Story Pirates. Story Pirates is looking for an Assistant Editor (remote) to join the Post Production team for the SPTV division.

Major Responsibilities

• Complete editing assignments and prepping episodes for final review and delivery

• Wrangling final approved credits list for each episode

• Collaborate with the Director and Editor on projects, providing editing support including adding GFX and VFX (credits, cyrons, etc.)

• Distributing edits and cuts to the Creative Director for review and approval

• Exporting edits/cuts of stand alone content for each episode

Additional Responsibilities

• Use existing content and productions to create trailers, social media posts and other advertising content

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

• 1+ years experience editing/post-producing premium, high-visibility video for large-scale audiences

• Working knowledge of Mac OS, Google Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud apps (including but not limited to Premiere Pro, Media Encoder and After Effects)

• Comfortable working with common video codecs, formats and timecode formats

• Comfortable sharing feedback within a small team environment

• Detail-oriented, technical, and open to new ideas

• Can take direction well and complete tasks autonomously

• Flexibility to adapt and meet changing timelines and deliverables

• Working knowledge of Post Production and Production process and technology

• Curious and excited to learn and problem solve

• Proactive, positive team player, able to help guide projects from ingest to delivery

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication skills

• Graphics/animation skills preferred but not required

A Plus but Not Required

• Knowledge of social media and digital video platforms

• Experience with DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Audition for color and sound finishing

Rate: $175/per day for an 8 day editing project (estimated).
