Summary of Position
STARZ is seeking a product analytics leader to join the Insight and Analytics department. This individual will act as a catalyst for transforming how we measure and report customer behavior on our direct-to-consumer app(s). Leading a small but highly capable team, this role focuses on the instrumentation and analytics reporting of our app ecosystem.
This Executive Director will be highly collaborative and work cross-functionally with most major departments across the business. The role is highly visible and includes senior management stakeholders within product, technology, marketing, and distribution teams.
Responsibilities
• Spearhead the product analytics process, collaborating with the Product team from feature conception to the delivery of comprehensive reports and presentations for stakeholders
• Ensure accurate and prompt delivery of app lifecycle analytics to the organization
• Collaborate closely with the Data Engineering team to ensure seamless integration of app data into our data warehouse
• Direct the development and maintenance of an app analytics semantic layer to generate actionable customer insights
• Drive the organization forward by staying updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices
• Establish yourself as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in connecting business outcomes with product features
• Manage a small but highly capable team comprising a Product Analytics manager and a Testing and Optimization manager
• Develop a deep understanding of the needs across various business units and devise effective strategies for communicating actionable insights
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of 7 years working with app analytics at top media companies with a strong preference for experience at an SVOD service, e.g., Max, Netflix, Paramount+, etc. Experience with AVOD a plus
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in working with, manipulating, and generating insights using Google Analytics, with a deep understanding of both Universal Analytics (UA) and GA4. Experience with other analytics platforms is highly valued
• At least 5 years of experience in developing and presenting research and insights to senior management, including C-suite
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in working with data visualization tools, with a strong preference for expertise in Tableau
• At least 5 years of experience in writing SQL, R, or Python code against large and complex datasets
• Strong capability in communicating complex data insights effectively, with an emphasis on storytelling to relay content performance and value
• Proven ability to develop accurate and elegant content performance metrics from diverse raw data sources, including app viewership, product, marketing, and subscriber data
• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively with all levels of management
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving settings without compromising on quality
• Understanding of database modeling and architecture
• Experience with statistics, A/B testing, and working with data scientists
• Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools such as Snowflake, S3, and Matillion is highly valued. Familiarity with other similar tools is also relevant
• Demonstrated ability in managing cross-functional projects, particularly in technology and analytics domains
• Knowledge of data privacy laws and compliance regulations like GDPR and CCPA
• Proven leadership skills and experience in building and mentoring high-performing teams
• B.A./B.S. in a relevant technical field such as Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Economics is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Advanced degree is a plus
• An understanding of and commitment to applying analytics with a focus on diversity and inclusion
