Summary of Position
This role will focus on consumer publicity for the content on the STARZPLAY international platform. The person in this role will be responsible for series campaign development and execution in the local territories where the STARZPLAY platform has launched, rolling out original and acquired programming in those markets, with a specific focus on Spanish Language Originals in Latin America. This person must be fluent in Spanish, have STRONG written, verbal and organizational skills, be solution oriented, exercise good judgment, and have the ability to adapt quickly under pressure. The Director, International Publicity will report into the Vice President, International Publicity and will work with the international team in support of the larger media strategy around the STARZPLAY global expansion.
Responsibilities
• Director, International Publicity will be responsible for the strategy and execution of consumer facing publicity campaigns for Spanish language STARZPLAY titles in Latin America
• Manage in person/virtual press junkets, screenings and events
• Manage entire execution of local press kits/mailers from conception to delivery
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams in the various departments
• Oversee the ongoing updates needed to the International DPK sites
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with channel partners in the various territories.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets and promotional partners within the various territories as the STARZPLAY brand continues to expand
• Support in the management of the local agencies as they secure cross platform media coverage for series campaigns
• Create press releases and media materials and facilitate delivery to all key media outlets in support of the STARZPLAY content
• Coordinate and facilitate media requests for STARZPLAY series talent and creators in coordination with the STARZ Original Series publicists
• Think strategically about the STARZPLAY brand and how to maximize media exposure with the local territories
• Leverage and incorporate latest technology in PR practices
• Monitor competitive landscape, providing updates on key communication and press activity Monitor and stay ahead of industry trends
• Manage budget for all initiatives including press kit development, press initiatives, talent travel expenses, etc., with a keen eye for ROI across all PR functions
• Travel to and represent STARZ at various events
• Demonstrate the ability to act as a resource for junior level staff
Qualifications & Skills
• Candidate must be fluent in writing and speaking in Spanish.
• Bachelor's Degree required; focus in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, English preferred
• Minimum of 8 years experience in PR, including experience in Hispanic or Latin American market publicity required
• Candidate must have proven track record of delivering press coverage and established relationships with media in the international market (including online and trades)
• Must have knowledge of the major international markets and the promotional opportunities there including key conferences and festivals
• Must have prior experience managing PR campaigns with talent and creators as well as the ability to interface directly with them
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and usage is required
• Must have strong relationship building skills and ability to work across teams both internally and externally
• Must have the skills to seek out and establish relationships with key media and promotional partners in support of and on behalf of the STARZPLAY brand
• Must have strong writing and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
