  • Full Time
  • Senior (5-10 years) Experience
Job Description
Spotify is seeking an outstanding Senior Manager to join its Licensing Finance team within FP&A. As a leader on the team responsible for analyzing and forecasting music royalties, the largest cost driver for the business, you will play a versatile role and become the subject-matter expert across several areas: Margin & Profitability Analysis, Music Royalties, Consolidated Long-Range Planning (LRP), and Model Automation.

You will work closely with global, cross-functional teams to tackle critically important and highly-visible work, ranging from optimizing our royalty rate cards with music rights holders to modeling out the impact of a significant company bet on our long-term financials.

This role is unique within the FP&A team in that it leverages an assumed proficiency in music royalty analysis to enable other parts of its scope: ownership of Spotify's LRP model, driving model automation in our proprietary, internally-built ''Forecasting Hub'', and driving the vision for how financial forecasting at Spotify should work.

To deliver on this directive, you will manage a small team and will work out of our New York offices, reporting to the Head of Licensing Finance.

What You'll Do
• Own all music royalty forecasting and analysis for Spotify with an ''always-on'' demeanor; Spotify operates in a constantly evolving environment and our forecasting keeps pace with that industry reality
• Build multi-year P&L and cash flow forecasts for Spotify's consolidated business; the output will help derive and prioritize company targets, inform company-wide OKRs, and facilitate valuation / year-end close exercises
• Lead and manage cross-functional work streams in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and FP&A, ''program managing'' the delivery and strategy around our proprietary ''Forecasting Hub''; this is a next generation, in-house forecasting tool designed to run financial forecasts with minimal user friction and maximum speed
• Architect the future of FP&A's full stack forecasting platform; imagine a platform that can produce an accurate forecast days after accounting close with the follow-on ability for anyone in FP&A to perform sensitivity analysis within minutes - that's the goalpost

Who You Are
• 7+ years of professional working experience, preferably in investment banking, management/operational consulting, or FP&A at a technology company
• Strong spreadsheet and modeling skills are required
• Competence with SQL is required
• Experience performing analysis on large datasets, Tableau, and Python are a plus
• Proficiency with three statement financials and working capital dynamics is required
• Strong work ethic with the ability to fluidly transition from leading and managing work to being able to individually contribute (''hands on keyboard'' skills) as situations and timelines require
• Sharp attention to detail but an eye towards using the 80/20 rule to address problems including the ability to communicate and empathize across a wide range of audiences, spanning on-the-ground to executive partners
• Very strong project management, planning and organizational skills including the ability to lead on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver work under tight timelines
• Deep intellectual curiosity with a desire to constantly understand; one extra question will lead to one extra learning, but hundreds of new ideas when combined with every learning before it

Where You'll Be
• This is a hybrid role based in our New York City offices (2 to 3 days a week is required)
• Working hours? We operate within the Eastern time zone for collaboration
