Temp – Associate: Sound Designer – Exosphere
Who are we hiring?
Sphere Studios is looking for a Sound Designer to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for MSG Sphere projects, we strive to create world-class content at an unprecedented scale on the largest LED screens ever made, with a massive multi-channel sound system of unprecedented complexity and quality.
The Sound Designer will be primarily responsible for creating content for Exosphere experiences (Sphere's exterior screen), which include both artistic and brand activations. Additionally, creative sound design will be required for events inside Sphere.
Content will be delivered in a multitude of different channel formats, so the Sound Designer should be comfortable working with large multichannel projects in popular DAW's and using proprietary audio tools to conform, edit, mix and deliver content to multiple destinations including review sites and Sphere itself.
In addition, the Sound Designer will maintain sound libraries using popular audio library software and be proactive in optimizing workflows by developing templates and using automation scripts. What will you do?
• Work with a range of popular DAW's: Experience with Reaper preferred but not essential.
• Create sophisticated sound design for artistic and brand activations.
• Mix and deliver projects primarily in stereo but occasionally work in large multichannel projects using bespoke spatial audio tools.
• Transcode and deliver audio files to various review sites.
• Work with spherical picture edits at varying frame rates.
• Create and maintain advanced spatial audio sound design templates.
• Maintain custom sound effects library using metadata tags.
• Use basic scripting and automation to optimize workflows.
• Collaborate with Project managers, Audio Artist and Editorial department to ensure work streams are fully integrated and in alignment with delivery schedules and playback systems.
• Evaluate and recommend audio tools from outside vendors as needed.
• Help develop studio best practices.
What do you need to succeed?
• College degree preferred or additional production certificate programs.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in sound design for film, television, video games or virtual reality.
• Thorough knowledge of mixing software such as Reaper, Pro Tools and Logic Pro, creative plugins made by Native Instruments, Soundtoys and Spitfire Audio, common post-production software such as Izotope, FabFilter and Waves and library management software, such as Soundminer.
• Proven leadership experience as part of a team delivering constant streams of quality creative content under tight deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure while maintaining team cohesion.
Pay Range
$3,350 - $3,725 USD
