Senior Manager, Business and Corporate Development

Sony Pictures Entertainment's Corporate Development Group is developing a core team in business strategy and transformation to supports SPE's growth initiatives. The team works closely with SPE's lines of business and other corporate functions to build growth strategies, design financial/operating models and implement change management plans. The team drives change through detailed analyses, determination of success metrics, process reengineering, identification and implementation of industry best practices, and program management.

The team is seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate & Business Development with proven experience in business strategy development and operational change management. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the entertainment industry. As Senior Manager, this person will support a portfolio of growth initiatives, providing strategic analysis, process improvement recommendations, and program management. This role reports to the SVP, M&A and Corporate Development.

Core Responsibilities:
• Preparation of structured analysis with effective data visualization, strategic recommendations, and materials in support of program communications and executive updates
• Monitor and support projects/programs through their lifecycle, consolidate portfolio level view
• Drive individual initiatives from inception to completion
• Provide benchmarks and tracking of performance for the business, driving step change and high performance
• Use industry standard process management to identify where process improvements can be made
• Participating in industry forums, supplier demos, and other industry activities to ensure constant awareness of industry trends and best practices

Skills and Attributes for Success:
• Creative, innovative, and critical thinker with a track record of developing credible ideas
• BA/BS degree
• Experience creating and iterating on data-based strategies to inform content strategy and business development
• Strong track record of identifying key questions; defining, performing and coordinating analyses; communicating findings in a clear and concise way; and finding creative and innovative solutions
• Initiative in anticipating and meeting or exceeding the business demands of senior-level executives
• Financial modeling skills and proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
• Expertise in the media industry (e.g., at a studio, production company, agency, distributor) is a plus though not required
• Comfortable and proficient at using a structured data-driven analytical approach to problem solving and development of recommendations
• A customer-centric approach to work, flexible and adaptable and able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
• Solid project management skills, including prioritization and ability to multi-task
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to facilitate meetings as well as listening and interpretation skills

To qualify for the role, you must have
• 4-5 years of relevant experience - ideally a combination in areas such as strategy, business transformation, management consulting and/ or finance; MBA or equivalent a plus
• Experience in developing and presenting data-driven business strategy
• Trained in project management and/or agile frameworks
• Exceptional MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Proficiency in designing and documenting processes, policies, standards, key performance indicators and controls
• Ability to evaluate existing processes, analyze implemented changes, and recommend adjustments to workflows or other processes
• Experience supporting business process improvement initiatives in a dynamic (ideally studio/entertainment) environment
• Solid understanding of organizational management principles, methodologies and tools
• Experience in implementing large-scale organizational cultural shift efforts
• Skilled in supporting change efforts by sharing the benefits and promoting ways to reduce barriers to implementation
