Sony Pictures Entertainment's Corporate Legal Department is looking to hire a talented, enthusiastic, motivated and thoughtful lawyer to work in its London office to advise Sony Pictures' businesses on a variety of commercial and corporate matters. This is an opportunity to join a strong and well-established legal team that works on cutting edge deals and encourages innovation and professional growth. SPE's Corporate Legal team supports multiple business lines including television networks, content distribution across all platforms and media (including theatrical, digital, streaming, television and physical home entertainment) and mergers and acquisitions activity.
As an integral part of Sony Pictures' EMEA business, this is an exciting opportunity to work with clients across the region and at Sony Pictures' headquarters in California, and would suit applicants with an international outlook, who have either relevant in house or law firm experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Supporting mergers and acquisitions transactions, working with senior corporate lawyers and external Counsel
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating channel carriage agreements
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating content acquisition agreements
• Advising on broadcast regulation across the EMEA region
• Supporting the physical home entertainment business across EMEA, including drafting letters, amendments, licenses and other commercial contracts as required
• Responding to legal queries from the networks and home entertainment businesses across EMEA including in respect of sales and marketing activity
WHAT YOU HAVE:
• Typically, 3-5 years of relevant post qualification legal experience, preferably in the media industry.
• Self-starter with a proactive and positive attitude to their work who takes ownership of tasks and is able to work independently as well as with other team members.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
• Strong drafting skills with close attention to detail.
• Some relevant experience with a studio, network, media company or major law firm in any or some of the following areas: TV networks (both linear and non-linear services), broadcast regulatory and corporate media transactions.
• Ability to draft, negotiate and advise on matters on tight deadlines across the business, including deals for the carriage of channels, content acquisition, advertising sales, regulatory/channel licensing and broadcast compliance.
• Understanding of corporate transactions as both a buyer and seller, or willingness to learn in this area.
• A solid understanding of intellectual property law and contract law.
• An ability and willingness to continue to learn new law and industry practices.
