Senior Accountant, TV Production Record-to-Report, Global Financial Operations

The Senior Accountant for the RTR Global Financial Operations (GFO) – TV Production (TVP) will be responsible for monthly and quarterly close activities related to Balance Sheet and associated analysis functions coupled with continuous improvement, standardization and simplification of those functions and outputs for the TVP Domestic Line of Business. This individual will also work closely with SPE's outsource accounting provider, CapGemini.

Responsibilities:
• Perform film inventory accounting, including preparation/review of film inventory rollforward, production spend, and production tax credits
• Perform amortization analysis and record journal entry to ensure appropriate rate has been applied and amortization posted
• Prepare title amortization to ensure complete and accurate posting of film cost amortization by title
• Monitor film cost inventory, participations and residuals liabilities, and related costs to ensure they are accurately presented in the financial statements
• Prepare obligation rollforward and review for completeness and accuracy of participation; identify balances in a debit position that require reclassification to prepaids or acceleration of amortization
• Review miscellaneous product activity to identify items booked without a title – investigate activity to determine adjustments as necessary
• Review unsettled production costs, investigate and follow up as necessary
• Prepare schedules/reports for the monthly close packages, including account reconciliations for AP, film cost inventory, and participations/residuals
• Prepare monthly cash flow reporting package, and analyze variances between actual and budget/forecast
• Prepare and review journal entries and provide corresponding source documentation
• Monitor SPE-Intercompany activity and balances including research and resolution of out-of-balance accounts, confirmation of monthly balances
• Assist in the preparation of all tax packages and requests from tax department
• Provide management support to ensure month-end and quarter-end close is completed timely and accurately
• Complete special projects for financial and operating management
• Provide reporting to third parties and other internal groups, as necessary
• Run queries and prepare SAP and excel reports for ad hoc analysis required by Operations, Corporate, Tax, and other lines of business
• Provide management support with coordination of quarterly external audits
• Define, refine and implement all aspects of the ''GFO Model''. This includes active participation in defining the interaction model with TVP FP&A, Capgemini, and the TVP commercial teams as needed; playing an integral role in maintaining a strong control environment; executing on the appropriate reviews and feedback mechanisms
• Identify and implement opportunities to eliminate low value work and standardize processes which will reduce complexity and enable greater benefits to be derived from technology (RPA, SAP S4/Hana, etc.)
• Foster an environment which embraces change and thrives in dynamic situations which can often have both unclear and uncertain outcomes
• Champion the concepts of: Eliminate, Standardize, Optimize, Automate, Robotize (ESOAR);

Requirements:
• Strong Accounting experience (Public Accounting experience is a plus), minimum 3+ years
• Experience with complex ERP systems and General Ledger postings (SAP a plus)
• Basic understanding of film accounting is a plus
• Strong MS Excel skills required (Modeling, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, VBA Macros, etc.)
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve with reasonable independence
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects while working in a cross functional team environment
• Ability to follow-through with co-workers on projects/tasks by setting guidelines, timetables and clear sense of expectations
• Strong level of communication and interpersonal skills working with staff in multiple time zones and countries
• Change agent mindset
