Manager, Responsible Sourcing
Responsibilities include developing procurement sustainability strategy, ESG KPIs, performance benchmarking and disclosures related to procurement, supplier impact assessment, and procurement process improvement, participating in contract reviews to meet ESG standards, and supporting competitive bidding processes and supplier management in sourcing categories related to sustainable sourcing.
This position will report to Director of Responsible Sourcing and collaborate across all Sony divisions, occasionally interacting with executives at both the corporate and divisional levels. Individual hired will have the opportunity to create a phased-in procurement sustainability strategy based on available data and researched industry best practices.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop reporting metrics and comparison measures across different mitigation strategies for GHG emission reductions using a range of metrics (such as DCF, NPV, ROI, cost per ton of reduction).
• Prepare supplier impact and sustainability reports for Procurement, executive leadership, and key stakeholders.
• Work with senior leadership within the Studio and Sustainability team to translate strategic sustainability initiatives into actionable purchasing strategies.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and spending patterns for efficiency, effectiveness, related to sustainability, engaging the appropriate stakeholders in the process.
• Support cross-functional teams in performing competitive events (RFPs, auctions, etc.).
• Leverage e-Business tools, such as spend analysis, supplier intelligence, and others in support of supplier sustainability strategies.
• Develop sustainability plans to ensure appropriate tracking of GHG emissions aligned with corporate sustainability goals and initiatives.
• Advise on crafting materials for employees and production teams to effectively communicate sustainability goals and initiatives.
• Recommend new sourcing strategies, process improvements, and supplier relationship structures for more sustainable and transparent environmental footprint.
• Develop and execute implementation plans for support of programs with new suppliers.
• Manage ongoing quality improvement, including developing green score cards for suppliers, and ongoing review of the internal Corporate and Division customers while staying on top of trends, supplier intelligence, and other relevant information.
• Ongoing communication with leadership regarding project status, timeline, and budget.
• Drive standardization of Environmental Procurement Policy, purchasing best practices, processes, and procedures improvements.
• Contribute to enterprise commitment to responsible sourcing by contributing to supplier selection, onboarding, and ongoing supplier relationships.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required; business or environmental science background preferred; master's degree, CPA or PMP, or background in law and compliance is a plus.
• 4–6 years' experience in sustainability, procurement, financial planning, research, and/or compliance.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
• Superior knowledge of sourcing process and experience effectively managing five-figure budgets.
• History of contributing to evolution of supply chain processes and/or continuous process improvement.
• Strong analytical, business process improvement and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to develop detailed work breakdown structures and knowledge of Gantt charts.
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and project management skills.
• Technology savvy and able to leverage latest technology-based tools and reporting systems and/or willingness to learn.
• Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
• Talent for building and managing cross-functional relationships and teams.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement and serving as a liaison between internal and external partners.
• Strong business / financial acumen and ethics.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and use sound judgment to make business decisions.
• High motivation and results-oriented work ethic.
• Curious mind not afraid to tackle new challenges in a team environment.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
• Experience developing ESG metrics, performing materiality analysis, benchmarking for Media/Entertainment sector, and GHG accounting.
• Proven ability of leading corporate reporting in line with ESG standards and frameworks such as CDP, SASB, TCFD, and GRI.
Financial process improvement or Six Sigma methodology experience is a plus.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $94,500 - $125,200. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
