Manager, Payroll Controls

Based in Manila, Philippines, the Manager, Payroll Controls is responsible for analyzing and auditing payroll records for all USA and Canada-based employees of Sony Pictures Entertainment. This includes but is not limited to analyzing data, writing up adjustments, auditing results of adjustments, filing backup for adjustments, assisting with agency setup, reactivation and closing of accounts. The Manager is also responsible for analyzing various benefit deductions that process through the system to ensure required limitations are met. Additional responsibilities include responding to and troubleshooting employee questions related to the voluntary and involuntary deductions and taxes, running audit reports to ensure proper setup from a Controls perspective, assist in creating, submitting, testing and resolving any system or setup discrepancies found. The Manager is also be responsible for covering the duties of team members when necessary and will work with the other Payroll groups on troubleshooting and resolution of payroll/system issues.

The incumbent must be able to demonstrate initiative and an ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze USA and Canada payroll posting for preparation of adjustment requests to be submitted to UMS. Audit UMS adjustments once posted and callout additional corrections if needed. Track pending or on-hold adjustments to ensure they all get completed and are accurate. Filing backup to adjustments and employee system updates to ensure proper review and approval are included.
• Assist with agency setup, inquires, reactivations, updates and account closures if necessary. Assist with responding to agency inquiries from periods prior to UKG go-live. Assist with filing manual paper amendments if necessary. Pull and electronically file reports for archive. Using UKG business intelligence reporting tools to analyze and address incorrect or incomplete data.
• Auditing clerk and analysts' work and UMS postings for payroll processing. Responding to employee inquires regarding payroll benefits and taxes. Work in conjunction with other Sony groups to resolve payroll questions.
• Process manual deduction and adjustment related reimbursements on the UKG reimbursement template and Benefit payments using the UKG GOAT template uploaded to UKG Pro
• Using systems-based reports and controls to validate deduction calculations and limitations on precheck based payroll calculations and make modifications to complete and/or correct data. Analyze 401k and other deductions to ensure limitations and YTD amounts remain compliant with statutory rules and elections.
• Ensuring controls are in place for system changes and/or updates. This includes but is not limited to maintaining consistent procedures for Controls business continuity.
• Special Projects (including but not limited to testing system updates/ changes), escheatment if needed.

Requirements:
• Minimum of 4 years of payroll processing/accounting and finance experience preferably in a managerial capacity
• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting
• Technically proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills (eg. index/match, data tables, etc.)
• Payroll, Human Resources or Accounting experience a plus
• Excellent communication skills especially with non-Finance individuals
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction to meet deadlines
• Strong initiative and ability to multitask
• Experience with Enterprise planning systems (eg. SAP, Hyperion, etc.) an advantage
