Manager, Media & Research
The Manager, Media & Research will decipher and implement local marketing strategy and generate/execute media strategies and buying to support theatrical releases in China. The incumbent should be closely involved in marketing campaign of pre-launch, launch and post-launch to ensure successful rollout of Sony Pictures' film release, and meanwhile be able to provide strong support to other sub-functions of the marketing team. Based in Beijing, the position will report to Marketing Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Media & Advertising:
• Initiate media strategy, media planning and buying, implementation of ideas and integrate all into overall marketing campaign execution, including positioning, targeting audience setting, advertisement, proposing and engaging in various execution to maximize awareness of titles and interest for ticket purchasing.
• Manage relevant budget planning, allocation, and control expenditure
• Manage marketing material's localization of verbal, print, A/V and other interactive materials for advertisements on different platforms
• Control the approval flow of advertising materials to ensure compliance with media regulations internally and externally
• Liaise with Home Office on advertising/media execution, approvals, and updates
• Coordinate and disseminate approved materials to the various media partners and platforms
• Manage media buy and creative agencies to secure major placement, massive exposure, and easy conversion
• Supervise media agency to ensure cost efficiency and touchpoint innovation
• Assist in marketing campaigns with other functions i.e. tie-in promotions with partners/media if necessary, publicity, social media, promotion to evaluate earned media value
• Negotiate terms and deal with vendors and control the efficiency and quality delivered
Research:
• Develop clear positioning of each title to guide marketing campaign
• Analyze and solicit media placements, evaluate cost effectiveness
• Use all relevant measurements and technologies to track campaign effectiveness and provide actionable suggestions to different functions
• Execute qualitative and quantitative studies in China as instructed by HO while exploring new research initiatives with local agencies or partners
• Collect and process data of comparison and competitor titles to help management and China team understand the marketplace and new trends
• Work with distribution team on box office analysis and projection
Miscellaneous:
• Update advertising/media sections on decks/reports for internal and regional review
• Attend market/film conferences, presentations, and regular conference calls
• Support in other ad-hoc tasks in talent tour and other marketing campaign events
• Prepare marketing PO for vendor and handle all payment processes through internal SAP system
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
• Native Chinese speaker with excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
• Excellent communication, negotiation, logical thinking, data researching, problem-solving, priority management skills
• Proficient with MS Office applications and PowerPoint presentation skill is essential
• Proficiency with analytic or statistic tools is essential
• Good with math and numbers
• Efficient, highly organized, and able to work under pressure
• Fast learner good at intelligence and excellent team player with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to propose best integrated media and marketing strategies/campaigns depending on different genre and titles
• Passionate or keen interest in movies, good understanding of entertainment media environment, sensitive to movie and media industry trends
EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT) AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• University or above, degree in data science, statistics, marketing, communication, advertising, Film related field, business administration, or relevant disciplines
• Minimum 3 years of experience in research agencies; Quantitative experience is preferred
• Experience in marketing, media, digital, entertainment or movie industry is a plus
