This Summer/Fall Trainee position is from May/June through December 13th and all candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday in the specified location. This position is ideal for recent graduates or entry-level talent interested in jump-starting their career in a particular field. A hybrid work structure may or may not be available.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Sony Studios Fire Department is responsible for supporting fire and life safety compliance across the Sony Studios property and adjacent corporate owned or leased properties. The Sony Fire Department provides basic fire response to active fires, hazardous materials releases and act as 1st responders in the event of a medical emergency. The Fire Department provides professional subject matter expertise on the prevention and mitigation of known or potential fire hazards and conducts routine inspections and employee training and engagement. Sony Fire also supports emergency preparedness operations and takes a key role in all emergency response.

Additionally, Sony Fire supports motion picture and television production by insuring filming permit conditions set forth by State, County and/or local AHJs are met and adhered to during filming, up to and including conducting fire and life safety stand by services when required or requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Fire Department trainee will assist the Supervising Fire Marshall in developing and implementing a comprehensive Fire Operations Manual, assist in the development and implementation of electronic inspection programs, and support the Supervising Fire Marshall in an administrative capacity.
• Additionally, the Fire Department Trainee may be tasked with assisting in entry-level field work including conducting inspections of fire and life safety equipment, inspections of offices, stages and support buildings, responding to calls related to fire and life safety, and supporting the Sony Fire Department during fire, medical and other Studio related emergencies

QUALIFICATIONS:
• The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor degree in Fire Science, or an Associate Degree and Fire Fighter 1 Certification from the California State Fire Marshall.
• Additional course work related to Fire Science, Emergency Medicine, Disaster Management/FEMA or other related topic(s) is desirable.
• Experience with motion picture and television production is also desirable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• The preferred candidate will be a well-organized self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Sharepoint) is desirable

The anticipated base salary for this position is $22/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
