Financial Analyst, Production Accounting

The Financial Analyst will serve as the finance liaison to various departments of Sony Pictures Television: TV Production Accounting, Production, Production IT Services, Treasury, Domestic and International Banks.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing TV Production balance sheet accounts, preparing packages for statutory financial reporting, preparing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and managing banking for TV Production Accounting/Finance.

Tasks and responsibilities:
• Analyze TV Production balance sheet and statutory account with all applicable supporting documentation and appropriate account coding.
• Responsible for managing the set-up of various bank account and for the implementation of accounts.
• Prepare and submit signatory cards by interacting with Treasury and Production Accounting/Production teams on certified checks and encashments.
• Responsible for managing cash flow funding and maintaining cash flow schedules for manually funded bank accounts submitted to Treasury: Canada and US inclusive of Puerto Rico.
• Interact with production accounting teams on cash flow forecast for funded accounts
• Manage weekly Domestic and Canadian check deposits from various productions, submit bank deposits via mail shipping services.
• Interact with Cash Applications and Cap Gemini team for researching and analyzing deposits for posting in SAP.
• Prepare, review, and maintain Domestic and Canadian deposit tracker by bank and SPT entity.
• Review production schedules for shows in production and work with Sr Manager and Executive Director on journal entries for insurance and other allocations done by the financial reporting team.
• Reconcile various G/L account balances between systems, analyze variances and calculate any necessary adjustments.
• Responsible for ordering check stock for various productions as needed.
• Provide supporting documentation as needed for audits and banking purposes.
• Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reporting.

Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting /Finance required.
• 1 - 2 years experience public and/or private accounting experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
• Entertainment industry production accounting or network audit experience preferred.
• Fundamental understanding of computer systems mandatory; SAP knowledge helpful.
• EP systems experience helpful: Global Vista, Smart Accounting, Scenechronize.
• Detail-oriented; strong organizational, analytical, and Excel skills.
• Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to perform tasks with reasonable independence and bring projects to timely completion.
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem-solve in a dynamic, creative environment.
