Role

The Financial Analyst for Domestic Motion Picture Group is a key member of the Division Finance team, primarily involved in the analytics of the Film Label Operations as well as the preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, multi-year plans, maintenance of film ultimates, and ad hoc projects for MPG Finance. As part of the day-to-day activities, this role will interact with all members of MP Divisional Finance and Accounting groups and with various members of the Label Operations groups. Labels may include Columbia, Sony Pictures Animation, TriStar, 3000 Pictures, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures International Productions and Sony Pictures Classics. The Analyst will work with the accounting team to gain a firm understanding of monthly financial results/processes as well as to communicate and knowledge-share financial plan assumptions. This role will also coordinate with the International Theatrical and HE/TV distribution consolidation teams, as needed, to ensure appropriate financial schedules, such as title forecasts, income statements and cash flow statements are prepared and delivered timely.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and prepare calendars, models, and forecasts (Mid-Range Plan, Budget, Quarterly Forecasts, Bi-Weekly Forecast Updates) for one to two Labels within the Motion Picture Group. Design models for Classics, working with Business Development for MPG, Legal and Co-Presidents for Classics. Work with MP Managers to update and clear ultimates; prepare forecast decks, work on deal analyses (e.g., new TV slate deals) and specific analytical projects, which occur often.
• Meet with Label Presidents and MP Bus Dev to discuss calendars, title placement options, current ultimates, and TV/HE trends
• Analyze and prepare operating reports to assist management in understanding their business results and help them improve their returns
• Coordinate with Distribution divisions to better understand results and together, identify the optimum path to success
• Provide financial analyses support for the MP Divisional Forecasts: Deal and FX analyses, Participant/Partner Cash analyses and share clean-up; provide input to streamline, and automate processes to cut the time involved in preparing forecasts
• Working with the Directors and Sr Managers in Division Finance, prepare MPG any cash schedules, as needed, for the Forecasts and Budget
• Participate and collaborate with SPE accounting team in the monthly close process, including performing corresponding analysis to ensure that all financial information is recorded accurately to reflect the business performance and aligned with business and financial policies; provide insightful information to management regarding forecasted and actual results.

Job Requirements

Experience
• 0-2 years combined accounting and planning experience. Related industries within Entertainment are a plus; also, Oil and Gas, LT contractors-i.e., Aerospace or Real Estate Development industries may be considered

Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics preferred; goal in obtaining a CPA, MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred
