Director, GFO RTR and Stat & Tax

SPE Finance is currently transforming the organization from a Line of Business and territory orientation to a global, enterprise-based, focusing on process improvement, standardization, reducing complexity, and the use of technology. The global finance organization (GFO)'s objectives are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall team while enhancing the value and accessibility of the data created by the accounting processes which will enable the commercial teams to drive toward greater revenue growth and margin improvements. The mission of the record to report (RTR) GFO is overall responsibility for SPE's accounting, financial reporting, and related analysis functions coupled with continuous improvement, standardization and simplification of those functions and outputs. The GFO is the liaison between SPE's outsource provider, Capgemini, and SPE's lines of business. The RTR GFO serves as an agent of change, communication, design, and problem-solving.

Role:

This is a newly created position with the primary focus on RTR and statutory and tax compliance matters with liaison between GFOs, Divisional Finance, Global Statutory and Tax group, Global Tax Office, Capgemini, and professional firms for the APAC SPRI business. The secondary focus will be to serve as a change agent through promoting and implementing continuous improvement through process and system standardization for the APAC SPRI business

Specific Responsibilities:
• Drive continuous accounting improvement efforts and standardization across the lines of business and territories to ensure finance goals such as timely and error-free finance closings, clean statutory audits, and strong internal control and SOX compliance
• Support regional GFO during financial close periods to ensure integrity in our books
• Manage query resolution through the management of communications with Business, Home Office, GFO, and local reporting queries
• Provide ad hoc decision support for multiple in-region and global stakeholders
• Work closely with professional firms to manage yearly statutory audits, tax audits, annual tax return filings, quarterly indirect tax filings and other statutory compliance reporting for the APAC region
• Work closely with territory finance to integrate local statutory and tax reporting into the GFO where able for the APAC region
• Coordinate with our global tax office and submit the accurate internal quarterly tax reporting and other required tax related reporting across the region
• Drive statutory & tax reporting process improvement and efficiency and at the same time maintaining strong corporate governance across the region and the line of businesses

Requirements:
• Typically a minimum of 10-15 years-experience in the field of Accounting with exposure in statutory and tax reporting for multiple territories within the APAC region
• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting, with a CPA or equivalent professional qualification

Strong knowledge of:
• All applicable accounting principles (to include regional GAAPs (General Accepted Accounting Principles), US GAAP, IFRS) and statutory standards, including how to apply them, and when applicable
• Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and ability to implement business processes to maintain a strong internal control environment
• Applicable laws, rules and regulations governing proper business conduct and disclosure of information about the organization, business activities, and employees
• Tools, approaches, roles, techniques, processes, and/or procedures needed to:
• Explore and evaluate alternative accounting processes
• Create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports, underlying records, and statutory & tax filing
• Recognize, anticipate, and resolve organization, operations, or process problems
• Deal with changes and adapt to a changing environment

Strong ability to:
• Effectively communicate across the Business and Finance organization with strong English oral and written skills
• Work in a dynamic and fast moving and changing environment managing multiple priorities
• Effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours, tools, and techniques
• Establish and build healthy relationships with clients, vendors, management, and peers to create an environment committed to providing excellent and continually improving service
• Read, interpret, and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
• Create, implement, evaluate, and enhance internal control processes
• Enhance business strategies for the purpose of detecting, correcting, and preventing fraudulent activities
Other:
• Experience with regional statutory and tax requirements, tax filings, quarterly statutory and tax filings, and other statutory compliance reporting
• Experience with SAP S4 strongly preferred
• Experience working in an international organization and in the entertainment sector
• Experience working with outsource providers is a plus
