Director, Creative Advertising
DIRECTOR, CREATIVE ADVERTISING
The Director, Creative Advertising works with the EVP Creative Advertising, filmmakers, management and creative agencies to produce A/V materials and key art for use in broadcast, online, in-theater, radio and outdoor advertising. Leveraging strong marketing and creative instincts, the Director communicates campaign direction to vendors, presents materials, secures approvals, oversees the finishing process, and manages day-to-day campaign operations. The Director acts as point of contact for internal marketing departments and collaborates with these departments to establish creative coherence across all global marketing materials. This role requires the flexibility and focus to handle development of creative materials for multiple movies simultaneously at varying stages of the creative process. This person must have the ability to make quick and confident decisions, interpret research and analyze competitive materials in the marketplace while also being an effective communicator.
Responsibilities:
• Support EVP in ideation and execution of creative strategy
• Oversee campaign timelines and rollout plans; manage media (TV, OOH) and in-theater (trailers, posters) deadlines
• Attend all Marketing, Creative and Research meetings, perform competitive analysis, and contribute to strategic decision-making, including on materials testing and rotations
• Attend research screenings and focus groups; prepare and deliver materials for testing
• Collaborate with internal departments to create custom deliverables and ensure all campaign materials follow creative strategy across digital, social, publicity, promotional, licensing, exhibitor, music and special events executions.
• Creation of Print advertising materials (one-sheets, outdoor, banners, standees)
• Review creative with EVP and supervise copy and art revisions and/or next steps to outside agencies; traffic creative assets (unit photography, dailies, etc) to and from outside agencies
• Build print presentations, prepare boards, track and maintain selects
• Produce special photography shoots with talent during production. Work directly with filmmakers and talent to obtain approvals, hire photographer, producers, crew, and manage all preparatory and day-of logistics; oversee budget, negotiate rates, draft contracts.
• Work in tandem with print production to develop and implement schedules to meet material deadlines
• Oversee the finishing of key art for use in theatrical one-sheets, outdoor, in-theater. Aspects include approving color correction and retouching; proofing and approval of print mechanicals
• Development of Audio Visual materials (including Trailers, TV, Radio and Promotional Reels)
• Review creative with EVP and communicate revisions and/or next steps to outside agencies; track and organize materials; prepare presentation
• Oversee audio visual post-production in the finishing of trailers, TV and Radio spots
• Work with feature editorial, VFX and post-production teams to assess Marketing visual effects and animation needs, manage timelines and budgets, provide creative input, and oversee finishing deliverables and process for all accelerated and custom visual effects and animation materials for advertising
• Approve color correction for TV spots and mixes for TV and Radio spots; promotional reels
• Work in conjunction with the Publicity department to cull quotes and reviews; obtain approvals and quote clearances
• Manage high-security film assets and delivery of source materials to outside agencies
• Oversee and facilitate music clearances for trailers and TV
• Oversee MPAA and broadcast network clearance submissions and track feedback; work with clearances and media to obtain necessary approvals
• Consult with legal department on paid ads/talent contracts as it pertains to talent likeness and parity issues; any and all advertising restrictions; implement creative changes as necessary
Requirements:
• BA required
• A minimum 4-6 years of entertainment marketing experience at a studio or entertainment creative agency
• Experience managing a high volume of campaigns in parallel, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
• Deep knowledge of marketing campaigns and of creative process, timelines, and resource allocation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
