Job Description
Sony Pictures is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented and analytical Manager to join our GFO team! The Manager for the RTR GFO – MPG will be responsible for accounting, monthly financial reporting, and related analysis functions coupled with continuous process improvement, standardization and simplification.

This role will have a high degree of interaction with CapGemini (CG), our outsourced accounting provider, and will be responsible for providing training and oversight to the MPG Accounting team members at CG. The ideal candidate will partner closely with Divisional Finance and provide support in gathering and analyzing data to gain business insights. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills. Experience in the entertainment industry is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the MPG Balance Sheet accounts, providing detailed analysis on key balance sheet areas including AR, deferred revenue, inventory, etc and reviewing supporting schedules (bank recs, prepaids, marketing accruals, etc) Ensure financial (SOX) controls are operating effectively; preparation and review of schedules provided to external auditors during quarterly and year-end audit reviews Review of MPG film labels such as Screen Gems and SPC (Classics) and highlight the key performance drivers Manage and work closely with CapGemini, review their work, provide desk top procedures for new tasks transitioned to them and provide guidance when necessary Preparation and review of Corporate reports including Film Performance, Revenue and Operating Income by title/label, Revenue by Market (Theatrical, TV, Home Ent, etc) Perform analysis of actual results to most recent budget and forecast estimates – preparing appropriate variance explanations thereon and highlighting issues to Corporate and LOB management Prepare Inventory rollforward and review for completeness and accuracy of Film Cost, Amortization, Tax credits, etc.; identify by title credit balances that require corrections. Independent review, interpretation and documentation of contracts and understanding the application of accounting policies Identify and implement opportunities to eliminate low value work and standardize/automate processes which will reduce complexity/time and enable greater benefits to be derived from technology Responsible for various month end journal entries including but not limited to Revenue, Marketing and Production accruals

Requirements:
• 6+ years of strong accounting experience (Big 4 a plus)
• Entertainment industry experience is preferred
• CPA preferred
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance, preferred
• Direct experience with complex ERP systems and General Ledger postings (SAP a plus)
• Understanding of film accounting (film costs, ultimates, amortization)
• Strong MS Excel skills required (Modeling, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros, etc.)
• Experience working with offshore personnel and providing oversight and review of their deliverables
• Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve with reasonable independence
• Ability to self-review and produce accurate, reliable and high quality work in an efficient manner
• Strong initiative, ability to work independently and meet deadlines while understanding when to update and seek guidance from management
• Ability to lead/follow-through with co-workers on projects/tasks by setting guidelines, timetables and clear sense of expectations
• Strong level of communication (written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills
• High emphasis on team work, collaboration, critical thinking, process innovation while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to develop presence and become a key ''go-to'' person within the department
• Ability to prepare and present issues/projects/presentations to co-workers and senior management

The anticipated base salary for this position is $97,400-$129,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
