Sinclair Inc. is seeking a full-time Principal Data Architect (Sr. Data Architect) to join our growing company and work under the direction of our Senior Director of MDM & Data Mesh on the Enterprise Data & Insights team. The primary mission of the Enterprise Data & Insights team is to lead Sinclair into the future by generating Data Value that will fundamentally transform the business.
We are looking for a Principal Data Architect (Sr. Data Architect) that will play a key role helping to design, build and optimize cloud-based and on-premises services and applications for our portfolio of products. Our ideal candidate will often lead initiatives that span across teams and business units, providing critical technical support and building future thinking proof-of-concepts. As a leader, this candidate will play a pivotal role in developing our engineering talent and will actively cultivate a positive culture that empowers engineers to continuously grow and develop new skills. This candidate will also develop company-wide standards and processes that will optimize and nurture our SDLC to deliver initiatives on-schedule and on-budget across a wide range of technologies, languages, and systems.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the enterprise data architecture practice, develop junior talent, and active participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) meetings
• Collaborate with members of ARB to evaluate risk, benefit and strategic alignment of IT solutions
• Supervise a team of technical resources responsible for data solution design and engineering
• Design and deliver technical highly available, durable, and cost-efficient solutions for initiatives, products, and proofs of concepts
• Closely partner with program and technical project managers to ensure technical delivery of large engineering projects that span teams and disciplines
• Collaborate with analysts to identify architecture enablers and capabilities needed to meet business requirements
• Communicate to build consensus, while creating and driving technical decisions. Create credibility and trust as a coach while providing clear vision and direction to the engineering organization
• Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, supervise, mentor and influence engineers to help grow them both technically and professionally
• Have a working familiarity with industry best practices, architectures, and patterns
• Help the company identify growth opportunities into new and emerging green field technical domains
• Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize Sinclair software development lifecycle processes to ensure consistent quality of our organization's delivery of cloud-native and on premises software
• Create, inspire, and engage others to grow and learn while leading respectfully and confidently while you collaborate and broaden community influence.
• Establish, maintain and enforce architecture standards and practices for the ED&I team.
• Collaborate with ED&I and IT leadership to develop data architecture strategies and roadmaps
• Assist with the development of business cases, quantifying the value of architecture
• Develop, maintain and regularly communicate metrics that demonstrate the value of the architecture practice
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter driven by their own curiosity and sense of urgency. They will be able to maintain focus through helping prioritize and streamline requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 7+ years architecting and delivering software on premises and in the cloud
• 7+ years' experience in Python, Node.JS, Java, C#, C/C++, or another modern programming language
• 7+ years of experience developing data integration and ETL/ELT solutions
• 4+ years production usage of cloud services from AWS, Azure or GCP
• Experience with building and operating Master Data Management solutions
• Experience with building and operating Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions
• Experience architecting complex tools from scratch through production
• Experience designing complex system integration architectures
• Experience building and running durable and highly scalable applications
• Experience assessing data integrity and improving data collection and integration strategies
• Experience identifying trends, patterns, anomalies, spikes, standard deviations, and other occurrences in data sets
• Experience evaluating data at the point of collection for accuracy and quality
• Knowledgeable about algorithmic concepts from at least one information-centric discipline (e.g. statistics, machine learning, information processing, natural language processing, etc.)
• Knowledgeable about the relative computational complexity, scalability and other nonfunctional requirements of specific architecture approaches
• Experience supervising a team of technical resources
• Effective leadership, communication, and presentation skills
• Expert understanding of CI/CD, modern SDLC, waterfall, and agile development
• Familiar with modern software best practice in areas of testing, monitoring, and deployment
• Experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Cognos Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics, etc.)
• Knowledge of the latest data technologies such streaming analytics, graph databases, lambda architecture, etc. a huge plus.
• Knowledge of integration platform as a service technologies such as Boomi is a plus
