News Producer/Writer (PT)

Do you want to live in one of the most beautiful and affordable areas of California? If so, KRCR-TV in Redding has an immediate opening for a part-time News Producer/Writer!

In this role, you will be responsible for the production of content for our newscasts, digital and social platforms. You will work closely with the rest of the team on the newscast and its content. You will help generate story ideas, research stories, write copy, select video for editing, post content to our various social media platforms, and work closely with the Producer to determine the content and flow of the show.

The ideal candidate will have:
• Solid news judgment
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Be able to multitask and manage time in order to help put together an exciting and informative newscast
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Good communication skills, flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities are a must
• Proficient with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
• Knowledge of non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems like iNews is a bonus

Experience:
• Experience at a commercial or college TV station preferred although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• A journalism degree is preferred
