This is a unique opportunity for a Publishing Assistant with the new Simon & Schuster lifestyle imprint to support both the Publisher and the Editor in Chief. This role will provide an opportunity to learn both the editorial function, and the overall publishing process.
On the editorial side, the assistant will work on a wide range of titles in the core lifestyle categories, primarily with cooking, and also health and wellness, self-help, psychology and personal growth. Core responsibilities will include reading and reporting on submissions; assisting supervisor with acquisitions (this involves finding comparison titles and drafting P&Ls); targeting potential blurbers through data mining; drafting and editing tip sheets; helping with editing; and managing the production process for all titles.
On the publishing side, the assistant will write and distribute weekly editorial board meeting minutes, schedule meetings with authors and agents, assist with collection and distribution of materials for seasonal sales meetings, and perform basic administrative duties for the Publisher.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses superb writing skills, can track and fulfill multiple tasks under deadline pressure, and can clearly and persuasively represent the imprint to our authors and their representatives. Meticulous attention to details is essential.
