Gallery Books seeks an editorial assistant or assistant editor to support an Executive Editor and Editorial Director, both focused on memoir, narrative nonfiction, pop culture, and some illustrated titles. Responsibilities include: reviewing manuscripts and providing feedback; general administrative duties; organizing and scheduling meetings in MS Outlook; communicating with authors and agents by phone and email; expense tracking; evaluating a high volume of manuscripts; handling all aspects of transmitting books to production.

Qualifications:
• Some familiarity with the book production process
• Meticulous attention to detail and top-notch organizational and prioritizing skills
• Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to solve problems
• Capacity to manage multiple (and often competing) deadlines
• Love of the highbrow and the lowbrow
• Sense of humor and calm under pressure

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The annual salary for this position is $50,000.00 - $54,000.00

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
