Simon & Schuster seeks a Contracts Assistant to work closely with the Contract Systems & Data Manger, together acting as the main hub for the Contracts Department as a whole. In addition to daily entry and maintenance of contract data in our systems, they will also interact with multiple adjacent departments within the company on a regular basis. This person will be integral in keeping the workflow of the Contracts Department moving effectively and efficiently, and will therefore need to be reliable and steady under pressure.
Core responsibilities of this position include handling data entry and logging/tracking for new acquisition contracts and maintaining the accuracy of contract data in S&S systems, as well as updating our systems with the establishment of new ISBNs/terms. The Assistant will also handle changes to existing contracts by determining and collecting the correct forms and at times by drafting and executing amendments. Other tasks include clarifying contract terms to other departments as requested and help with research projects as needed.
This person needs to be able to manage multiple ongoing tasks and prioritize effectively while also being attentive to detail. They should be tech-savvy and highly motivated, and should have strong organization, communication, and critical thinking skills. Ideal candidates will be open-minded, willing to learn and evolve with the needs of the job, have a positive attitude, and enjoy identifying and solving problems.
