GENERAL INFORMATION
JOB TITLE: Digital A/V Producer & Editor

The Digital A/V Producer & Editor is part of our growing video team dedicated to transforming how the next generation of fans and consumers engage with Shondaland's content.
Working across YouTube, our website, social channels, and podcasts, the Digital A/V Producer & Editor is skilled at creating video content that performs cross-platform and has experience building, managing, and communicating efficient production schedules to meet weekly and monthly content needs.
This role requires a producer who can tell smart, compelling stories for Shondaland's entertainment- and brand-focused audience, and develop engaging series that highlight what makes our brand, our content, our talent, and our creator, Shonda Rhimes, tick.
Reporting to the A/V Content Lead, the Digital A/V Producer & Editor will collaborate with team leadership to produce award-winning visuals, while also working closely with a mix of on-staff and freelance content creators. You might be hiring crews for field shoots, working with editors and content producers to bring visual stories to life, or shooting and editing pieces yourself.
This position requires a self-starter attitude and the ability to find and create - in a fast-paced environment - robust, multi-platform stories that can thrive as YouTube series, short social packages, video-enhanced podcasts, or longer form website features.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Shoot, edit, produce and/or manage the production of a variety of video formats - such as interviews, BTS features, news, podcast clips, explainer videos, tutorials, and branded content - to support Shondaland's digital media platforms.
• Along with a team of content and video editors, generate video pitches with high viewership potential that appeal to Shondaland's ecosystem of digital offerings.
• As needed, manage high-level contractors in the production and delivery of video content related to marquee products.
• Generate and implement unique, original video franchise ideas that expand SL's audience.
• Ensure that video content is consistent with the brand tone, style, and values.
• Produce and edit original content under strict deadlines, adhering to individual and video package delivery schedules to ensure regular cadence of video content across all digital channels.
• Collaborate with full-time employees and contractors to own video projects with a style consistent to the Shondaland brand.
• Aids in managements of Digital Media Content Coordinator for video production needs.
• Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by leadership and/or the organization.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to come up with and further develop fresh video ideas and series that capture audience attention and align with Shondaland's brand.
• Video production expertise, encompassing the ability to conceptualize video ideas, plan the production process, manage on-set video shoots, direct talent, and manage camera, lighting, and sound teams.
• Exceptional and timely video shooting and editing skills informed of current and developing video trends.
• Ability to manage freelance videographers and editors, providing clear direction, feedback, and creative guidance when necessary.
• Familiarity with managing budgets for production to ensure projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints.
• Foundational knowledge of the Shondaland brand, including marquee shows, talent, industry reputation, and Shonda Rhimes.
• Knowledge of legal and compliance best practices, including video licensing laws, copyright regulations, fair use guidelines, closed captioning, audio descriptions to ensure videos are accessible and inclusive.
• Ability to develop and mentor junior-level producer positions to ensure team and brand standards are met.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum 5 years of experience or agency production level, producing, and editing digital video.
• A proven track record or portfolio of high-performing video content that elevates or complements the respective brand.
• Strong understanding of storytelling principles, with the ability to translate brand identity, editorial themes and stories, and marquee initiatives into compelling video formats.
• Experience managing freelance/contract videographers and editors.
• The ability to be detail-oriented and thorough in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven success in prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and leadership across multiple parts of the organization.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior staff members.
