Job Description
At KTVQ, the Scripps-owned CBS affiliate in Billings, Montana, you'll do more than cover the news-you'll tell stories that matter and make a difference in the communities we serve. We're looking for a passionate Multimedia Journalist who is driven by strong journalism, compelling storytelling, and meaningful community connections. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across multiple platforms while working alongside an experienced newsroom team that values growth and mentorship. Whether you're uncovering impactful local stories, reporting live in the field, or creating digital content, you'll play a key role in informing and engaging our audience. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Develop story ideas from assignments, news tips, and community leads.
• Research, interview, and verify information to produce accurate and impactful stories.
• Write clear, compelling stories for broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
• Shoot video and photos that enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
• Edit video content for multiple platforms and deadlines.
• Deliver live reports from the field and breaking news locations.
• Appear on-air for interviews, narration, and story presentations.
• Collaborate with photographers, producers, and digital teams to strengthen coverage.
• Contribute content and ideas that support daily newscasts and online publishing.
• Represent KTVQ and Scripps with professionalism while covering the communities we serve.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Three or more years of reporting, multimedia journalism, or related experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license, safe driving record, and ability to meet company driving and insurance requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong journalism instincts and a commitment to accurate, ethical reporting.
• Excellent broadcast writing skills with knowledge of AP style.
• Experience with videography and non-linear editing systems.
• Ability to operate broadcast-quality camera equipment.
• Experience editing video using Final Cut Pro or similar platforms.
• Digital publishing experience across web and social channels.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Self-motivation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• A collaborative mindset and desire to continuously learn and grow.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
