Job Description
Scripps News is seeking a Field Producer who will act as an off-camera news gatherer and principle liaison between the field and the network. The Field Producer will cover events, manage a team of photojournalists in the field, support the correspondent, gather elements and communicate news and information to the newsroom.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Establish and set-up of live shot locations
• Supervise and manage ENG crews
• Shoot b-roll; conduct interviews; work with talent in the field
• Communicate any editorial developments from field to newsroom, show teams and control room
• Develop contacts and sources
• Write and produce segments and packages
• Write daily updates relating to live events
• Write detailed memos for taped programming
• Meet established deadlines
• Travel and manage field logistics and production
• Stay on top of latest developments in stories, potentially attending press conferences and events
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 3-6 years of field producing and/or live programming producing
• ENG shooting preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong editorial judgement; strong research, writing and package writing skills
• An interest or passion for coverage subject matter
• Must be able to calmly communicate breaking news and important information during live events
• Must be an effective team leader with strong people management skills
• Knowledge of iNews is helpful
• Ability to cultivate and develop contacts and sources
• Travel Required
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $110,000.00 - 119000
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in District of Columbia.
