Job Description

We are hiring a Senior Data Scientist for our Studio Data and Insights (SDI) Data Science team. SDI Data Science partners with every EA game studio (including Respawn, EA Sports, Bioware, etc.) to offer data science products and solutions, in the areas including recommendations, matchmaking, NLP, computer vision, and more.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to work with and develop projects for live services titles within studios like EA Sports (e.g. FIFA, Madden, NHL). You have experience in machine learning and data modelling, and can apply those skills in areas like:
• Retention
• Segmentation
• Recommendations
• Forecasting.

You will report to our Data Science Senior Manager, and will work with our game team game partners, our lead and senior Data Scientists who focus on live services and recommendations, and our ML engineering/product teams.

What you'll do
• Work directly with game teams/partners to understand their offerings/domain, create data science products and solutions to solve for their use cases and assist them in making important decisions.
• Assist our team's lead of Live Services/Recommendations with generalizing products across titles.
• Work on team projects within your pillar, proposing methodology, guiding the direction of each project, and driving them to completion.
• Communicate data science projects and products to game partners, including those non-data science backgrounds/knowledge.
• Ensure methodology and experimental design and how experiments can produce actionable conclusions.
• Take feedback and action on it.
• Design, improve and work with our data pipeline that transfers and processes petabytes of data using S3, Kubernetes, Sagemaker, GCP, Python, Apache Kafka, & Hive.
• Build data manipulation, processing, and data visualizations to aid in your modelling efforts.
• Use your statistical and computational knowledge to build algorithms for calculating variances, state predictions, and find trends.
• Mentor junior team members.

Your background
• D./Master's in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field encouraged.
• 4+ years of professional experience manipulating data sets, building statistical models, and productizing models along with experience applying Data Science methodologies to real-world problems.
• Experience working on retention, segmentation, recommendation, and forecast modelling.
• Experienced in analyzing extremely complex, multi-dimensional data sets with a variety of tools.
• Strong verbal and visual communication skills to educate and work with partner teams.
• Experience using SQL or other query languages.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language like Python or R.
• Experience with a deep learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledgeable about data warehouse and non-relational data techniques to work with engineering partners.
• Big data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, and Pig.
• Application deployment using AWS, GCP, Virtual Machines, or Docker.
• Role benefits from domain/gaming knowledge.

Games and gaming are changing. Over the next few years, that change is going to accelerate and without the proper knowledge and toolsets to exploit this, many developers will struggle to keep up with it. Our job as the Studio's Data Science team is to ensure that our studios are equipped with as much insight and clarity as possible to not only keep pace but become the shapers of that evolution, to help EA lead into the future. We find that exciting and we hope that you do, too.
