About the team:

The branded content execution team creates all written branded content for the website, from long-form articles to service and slideshows. We're composed of five categories - Lifestyle/Entertainment, Work & Money, Health & Wellness, Beauty, and Fashion - and we help shape and guide how Refinery29 and its client partners can make an impact in those spaces, delivering on the brand's promise of quality storytelling and elevating women's voices with fresh content, tools, and discussion every day.

About the job:

Refinery29 is looking for a driven Beauty Editor with finely honed editorial sensibilities to join our branded content team. This role will be responsible for executing custom articles for Refinery29's beauty partners, making sure the content is smart, elevated, and leading the beauty conversation, while also translating the client's visions into deliverables that feel right for our brand. This person should have a clear vision, standout ideas, strong industry contacts, experience on set, superior judgement, and a passion for branded content.

You should be quick on your feet, adaptable, organized, and can think outside of the box for any RFP we receive. You should care deeply about R29 Beauty's ability to drive influential conversations in this space, constantly elevating Refinery29 as a thought leader in the branded content and digital media space. You should be optimistic, driven, and a generous collaborator, always eager to make a story stronger and more impactful.

What You'll Do:
• Work with the Senior Beauty Editor, Director of Branded Content, and Creative Directors to conceive original beauty story concepts & large-scale programming packages in collaboration with Refinery29's advertising partners.
• Edit custom branded content including, but not limited to dedicated feature articles co-branded collateral.
• Maintain Refinery29 brand voice and POV in all copy, and work with internal teams to enforce editorial guidelines.
• Manage programs/stories from start to finish. This includes working with Editorial for seamless integration and workflow; liaising with Photo, Video, Design, Product, Marketing, and Social on creative direction; contributing to client communications with Sales, Client Services, and Marketing Solutions; assigning stories to internal writers & freelancers; and ensuring that all copy meets the highest quality standards in accordance with client deadlines.
• Be the authority on beauty trends, products, and reporting for the Branded Editorial team, and be able to make judgment calls for branded content in accordance with Refinery29's beauty filter and voice.

What You'll Have:
• At least 3+ years experience writing and editing experience within digital media (beauty background strongly preferred).
• A strong understanding of R29's voice and style POV.
• Must be an excellent editor and writer, with a creative vision, spot-on judgement, and the ability to take raw copy and turn it into something truly special.
• A genuine interest in digital advertising, and branded content specifically.
• A willingness to make editorial judgment calls in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment, and to flag and escalate any potential issues to the Director when necessary.
• A flawless command of spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Never-ending patience and a collaborative, make-it-work attitude.
