PixelOpus is one of the Global Game Development Studios within the PlayStation Studios family. Located at PlayStation's HQ in San Mateo, CA. PixelOpus is looking for a highly talented and motivated User Interface Artist.

Game UI Artist

We are looking for a User Interface Artist who will work with our UX Designer and Art Department lead to design and implement high-quality UI for an upcoming AAA PS5 Action Adventure title.

You love to build fresh, clear UI visual design in accordance with the project's artistic direction. You have experience creating UI Art for an action adventure game and don't shy away from implementation in Unreal Engine 5 or working with a small and agile team. You have passion and skill in using graphic design to support and enhance the player experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works with the art director to own the artistic vision for game UI. Builds and maintains visual style guides, visual comps, and wireframes.
• Work in partnership with the UX designer to drive interface style and function through the creation of flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Crafts innovative 2D and 3D art content for user interfaces (UI), motion graphics and other in game needs. Collaborates with engineering on technical implementation.
• Implements, maintains and optimizes UI in-engine.
• Works closely with design and to understand and incorporate gameplay needs into UI
• Conceptualizes, presents and implements UI ideas and designs.
• Actively participates in technical and artistic concepts and problem solving.
• Experiments with and/or evaluates techniques and/or art programs to improve efficiency, workflow, or pipelines.
• Collaborates and supports other departments such marketing and environment as needed.

Qualifications:
• 3+ years as a UI Artist with at least one shipped title on PC, console, or mobile platforms.
• Strong background in graphic design, motion graphics, information flow and design.
• Proven experience of fundamental interface design principles, usability, and UI design methodologies.
• Excellent understanding of composition, color theory, hierarchy, animation, and typography.
• Ability to quickly prototype and visualize engaging user experiences.
• Ability to display complex data intuitively with an emphasis on information hierarchy.
• Proficient in Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
• Experience using engine level UI tools (Unreal preferred).
• Experience in using a wide variety of art styles.
• Good communicator, able to give and receive feedback well, comfortable presenting work and ideas.
• Self starting with a strong collaborative approach and love for video games.
• Your resume must include a link to an online portfolio with examples of UI work.

Preferences
• Experience with XD or Figma.
• Experience with developing UI for AAA experiences.
• VFX or compositing skills.
• 3D modeling skills.
