Sr. Software Engineer - Cloud Engineering

As a member of Sony Interactive Entertainment's Future Technology Group (FTG), you'll have the opportunity to lead the charge in the cloud gaming revolution. FTG is at the forefront of putting console-quality video games on any device, and we're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team.

In this role, you will use your skills and passion on important projects that are building the future of game streaming. You will play a key role in building server-side applications for cloud orchestration on a large geographically distributed infrastructure that is capable of delivering fun and unique gaming experiences to millions of players! You will work with creative, forward-thinking, and collaborative teammates in both the hardware / systems engineering and cloud engineering spaces to deliver player experiences that make a difference. This position offers a balanced mix of development, leadership, and research, ensuring that work is both exciting and rewarding! Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain highly scalable and performant services
• Develop and lead end-to-end implementations toward technical standards as well as expected delivery dates
• Research and build software, methodologies, and new industry trends to upgrade existing process and practices
• Communicate estimates, schedules, issues and dependencies to project and upper management
• Mentor other team members and provide technical leadership by reviewing pull requests, design plans, and participate in architectural discussions
• Collaborate with other functional teams to help improve development process and eliminate inefficiencies
• Debugging, isolating problems, and fixing the bugs

Qualifications:
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of software development and distributed system experience
• Must have the ability and knowledge to develop code in any programming language such as java, python, go; Java preferred
• Experience with GitLab or other continuous integration systems or CI/CD tools
• Exposure to AWS, containers or related technologies
• Experience with tools such as Git, Artifactory, and JIRA
• Knowledge of Linux or other UNIX variants
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Exposure to agile and iterative software delivery is a plus
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$131,100 - $196,700 USD
