This role sits within the Competitive Analysis function at Sony Interactive Entertainment. We're part of the wider Product & Business Operations (PBO) team within SIE's Platform & Data Strategy (PDS) division.

Product & Business Operations supports these outcomes. It is responsible for the organisation and delivery of critical PDS projects including, but not restricted to:
• New console and platform launches
• The successful introduction of changed products to market
• The delivery of key PDS strategic projects
• Communication management with global stakeholders, at both executive and working level

PDS staff and a wide range of partners across the business need a detailed and intelligent understanding of the competitive landscape to maximise the launch and in-life operation of SIE's products and services.
Our team delivers the high-quality competitive analysis that provide that context and advise product partners. We craft accurate, insightful and timely materials & presentations for a broad, global business audience within SIE – establishing the wider competitive landscape, general and recurring industry benchmarking and specific deep dive analysis pieces relating to new (or changed) PlayStation products.

Role overview:

The Senior Analyst is responsible to handle and execute competitive analysis projects including managing relevant sets of partners. To be successful in this role, the Senior Analyst is dedicated and self-sufficient and capable of running analysis projects from initiation to intelligence sourcing to narrative development and delivery to relevant partners.

This is an exciting new role in an expanding and hard-working team that play a vital role in advising the successful development, release to market and in-life operation of PlayStation products.

Supported by the Competitive Analysis lead, you will be responsible for handling and delivering competitive analysis projects, incl. initial client briefing and RFPs, coordination of internal and external intelligence sourcing and processing, application and evolution of analysis methodologies, project management and ongoing client management throughout the project until final delivery and after care to deliver committed and impactful work.

The role is London-based, so travel to the office will be required on a weekly basis (currently the team operates one day per-week in the office, but this may change in future).

What you'll be doing:

As a Senior Analyst you will report into the Senior Manager, Business Operations, and be focused on ownership and execution of diverse analysis projects, including:
• The creation and production of high quality, practical, competitive and market analysis using primary and secondary sources and qualitative and quantitative methodologies
• As an early founding member of a new Competitive Analysis Function, you will be required contribution to and develop our competitive analysis methodology
• End-to-end management of analysis projects including project, source and partner management from initiation through production to final delivery and follow-ups
• Point of contact and representation for the Competitive Analysis team with the wider organisation
• Ongoing management and development of intelligence assets including sourcing, processing, access, and distribution

What we're looking for:
• Experience in a senior analyst role in the games industry ideally across multiple settings (e.g., departments/companies/platforms)
• Strategic experience and understanding of the games and tech industries (incl. PC / Mobile and general technology related to gaming)
• Well versed in both quantitative and qualitative analysis and data manipulation
• Experience and knowledge of various analysis methodologies and experience with their strengths and limitations and be willing to adapt your approach to align with and best serve the needs of the Product & Business Operations team.
• Interpret and develop client briefs, source and process information, identify core truths, create clear narratives and manage clients throughout project delivery.
• Comfortable to deal with and manage varied sets of stakeholder and clients and tailor and run projects accordingly
• Strong storytelling and presentation skills
• Proficiency with data management and manipulation including relevant tools

• Experience within a product-related function
• Experience working with Senior Executives and varied partner sets
• Experience working with market insight and consultancy firms
• Proficiency with the following tools: Trello, Miro, Confluence,
• Written and spoken Japanese would be highly beneficial, but not crucial.

Note that international travel is required, up to 2-4 times a year.
