We are looking for an experienced Japanese interpreter who can join PlayStation Studios QA Translation Team to provide interpretation services to various teams within PlayStation Studios and other departments in SIE. As a Japanese interpreter, your job is to act as a communication bridge between Japanese staff and English-speaking staff ensuring their global projects and initiatives can succeed. The types of meetings and teams we support vary; this is an exciting position as you will be exposed to various aspects of the SIE businesses!

This is a contractor position that can be applied from anywhere in the United States since the meetings will be held virtually and you will be performing your job from home.
Our meetings usually take place in the afternoon from Monday through Thursday in Pacific Time Zone. We can work with you to arrange your schedule based on your availability.

While your primary role is to interpret meetings, there might be cases where we need your help with translation should the need arise.

Responsibilities
• Interpret virtual meetings (1on1s, regular team meetings, all-hands meetings, workshops, etc.) consecutively or simultaneously (for RSI, mainly from English to Japanese)
• Coordinate with our customers to obtain any meeting materials and prepare for meeting support
• Set up a second meeting channel to our customers for simultaneous interpretation
• Enter tickets and log time for the meetings you support
• Share knowledge of the meetings you support with the rest of the team members
• Provide up-to-date information on your availability and schedule to the team members for meeting assignment considerations

Skills & Qualifications
• Fluent in both Japanese and English
• At least 1-2 years of experience in providing both consecutive and simultaneous interpretations in a business setting (for simultaneous interpretation, from English to Japanese)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with people at all levels in an organization
• Troubleshooting skills
• Excellent working knowledge and experience with MS Office 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Additional Preferred Experiences/Skills
• Experience in working in video gaming, software development, or IT industry
• Holding an interpretation program certification

Experience in translation
