QA Tester (Contract)

San Mateo, CA

As a QA Tester, you are an avid gamer or have a solid understanding of modern games, consoles, and associated services and functionalities. You will gain and possess a deep understanding of the product, allowing you to execute tests used to validate game functionality, new releases, and in-development products and services. Your expertise will enable the development and business teams to have confidence that the product meets the quality level we strive for here at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

We are seeking a hard-working QA tester with a background in gaming, and in testing games and/or software.

Responsibilities
• Functionality, compatibility, usability, and regression testing
• Carrying out manual test cases
• Testing game related compatibility and compliance
• Applying basic to intermediate networking principles and online gaming / functionality elements
• Composing detailed bug reports and submitting / tracking in database(s)
• Setting up hardware and installing software needed for testing
• Working with QA leads and/or dev team members to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues

Requirements
• Ability to work remotely and in the office based on project needs
• Gaming experience with familiarity of a variety of genres and platforms
• Minimum of 1+ years' experience in game or software testing
• Experience in using common defect tracking tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Meticulous individual with strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment

Additional Attributes
• Familiarity with PlayStation games, products, and services
• Good understanding of gaming industry and trends
• Experience with testing on multiple platforms and devices
• Some experience with test case creation
• Knowledge of industry testing standards and practices
• Strong skills in using Windows, Mac OS X and/or Linux
• Above average skills with MS Office
• Understanding of common software deployment / release processes
• Experience in programming / scripting language(s) a plus
